Help
I recently finished a book titled Two Nuts In Italy by Sue Ellen Haning. I loved this book.
Briefly, the story is about a middle-aged woman who takes off to Italy with her two children for the summer. The rules are no reservations anyplace and each person could only take as much as their backpack could hold. I found this book to be very inspiring and encouraging.

Sounds like an interesting book, Sally - did you know we have a thread just for "books I've read"? Can't seem to remember the name of the thread right now but it's very close to the bottom of the threads on the MB page - you might want to mention this book on that thread too!

Wow, I'll look for this book. It sounds like fun. I don't know about traveling with what a backpack could hold. That makes me feel ashamed; I know I always take too much stuff.

When Mark & I were laid off and took the kids around the world in 1996, we each took one wheeled suitcase (carry-on size, except for one, which had the travel books. The kids each had little daypacks (comfortable for a 4yr old and 8 yr old.) I had a satchel with maps, passports, first aid, and one night's underwear for each. Mark had a large fanny-pack for the camera and passport photos. It's a bit more than one backpack each, but we traveled that way for almost two months, and it was fine. Of course, we didn't have laptops then!
