Orrinda
When I first saw that darling turkey, I knew I wanted to use it as magnets and somehow protect the finish on the feathers so that they could be written on with either dry erase markers or grease pencil or something. Does anyone have any suggestions (e.g., lamination, clear spray finish, etc.)? I thought this would be fun for the grandkids to play with while waiting for dinner on Thanksgiving. Guest figrsk8r
I would either laminate it or use clear contact paper on it with dry erase markers. You could also do something totally different... Put it under an inexpensive clear/glass/acrylic cutting board/mat and allow them to embellish to their hearts content. Depending on their age, it would also make it easier to put it at their level. You could even go so far as to use a permanent marker or a paint marker to outline the feathers underneath so they have a guide where to write. Looks like a fun project for them. AngRoCamp
What a cool idea!! I did soft laminate mine so we can use it again next year. We just wrote on it with dry erase markers and it seems to have done the trick (although I'd have preferred a fine point marker to the wide tip one we had which wasn't very legible ) If you hard laminated them for durability you could then easily just stick magnet strips on the back I'm sure. I love your idea! I hope you'll share photos or a layout
CRS
What a fun idea! I have already printed them out and Brooke has assembled hers. Lauren still needs to cut out her feathers and attach those. But she's having a busy week, so I'll let her slide, lol. The kids absolutely love these! If I have time this week, maybe I'll make cute little magnets, too!
