A new Scrap-for-Hire forum was added today. You will find it here.

There are two forums - one for members looking for someone to hire found here -Looking for Scrap-for-hire. And one for members Available to Scrap-for-Hire. Here are the guidelines:

1. The providers will use commercial products.
2. The providers should provide a link to their Scrap Girls gallery with sample layouts. If a Scrap Girls gallery link is not provided or a link to another gallery created the posting will be deleted.
3. The providers should not provide information about what they will charge. Fees, money exchanges, etc. are to be worked out with the person that wants to hire them.
4. Scrap Girls will not be involved in any money exchanges and will not be accountable in any way if either party is not satisfied with the results.
5. Initial communication should occur through the Scrap Girls PM or board emailing system. Email addresses and other contact information is not to be posted in threads.

Dee, when I click on the link you provided, there is nothing there on which to post - is it just not up yet?

Sara, I could be wrong, but I think there is nothing there because nobody has posted any new topics yet. It is a new forum, so people have to post new topics.

Great idea - I have kicked around the idea myself but don't have any of SG's commercial products yet (the handful of things I have that are ok for commercial use are either mine or from elsewhere LOL). I might look into growing my collection of things that can be used commercially as I am able to afford it...

I must be dense, but, why would you want to??? Everybody seems keen but I can't see the point. Could somebody please explain. Maybe there is something I don't know???

I think people see it as a way to make some a commercial prospect from what they love doing. I can sort of see the point. If you had a special album you wanted one of the experts to work on (like a wedding) then it might be a good idea.

As for me, what I love about digital scrap booking is that it is so easy to re-work until you are happy and ... I can't see a wedding on my horizon! LOL

So wish I were still doing designs for a business! It was great for 20 years but I am just so done with all of that - I personally found that as the technology grew each year that more and more people could do so many things themselves that I was being paid big bucks for and with the newness of in-house graphics departments, I just had to stop.

But, that's just me - I hope that others can succeed at this! I think it's awesome - and given the quality of the collections we have today, I think it might be very productive - just depends on what people are willing to pay.

I think this is more for those that want to earn a bit on the side (or as a supplemental income if they are a stay at home). I am doing my brother's Europe album as a gift for them but if they like it they had mentioned paying me to do their other photos because they don't scrap & haven't the interest or time to start. My mom & dad are the same way - I don't charge them, but it drives me bonkers to see our family photos piled in drawers or old magnetic albums. I started maintaining scrapbooks for each of them & gifting them at Christmas or birthays. They get photos they want in a format that is easy to view & I know that the photos I send them are safe. LOL

That said, I know there are plenty of people out there that have photos that are important to them but they either don't want to scrap, don't have time to scrap, or are not interested in learning more advanced techniques but they still want that WOW factor with some pages. I have already done a lot of scrapping for others as gifts & that's why I have started considering S4H. Pricing is the tricky part for me though, it is time intensive & then there are the supplies so it all has to be taken into consideration. Still thinking it over here.

A cousin of mine asked me to do two layouts for he husband's mother as a birthday gift. She will be 83. They are all photos of when she was young and one of her doing ballet. They are such special photos. I did two layouts and had them framed. The framing is not cheap. I was so worried that she would not like them. I had nightmares about that. With me, it's a case of, 'Don't give up you day job.' I could never do creative work for other people. Just too much stress. I suppose this is why I don't understand this. Thanks for the reply Jenna. It is wonderful that people can make a living at doing something they love. Good luck to everybody going doing this.
PS. She loved the layouts and the framing. Raved about them.
