candyK
My son serves in the Navy, has a nikon D3000. He needs a wide angle lens to get better pics in cramped quarters and landscapes. I am seeking recommendations for a lens for him. Thnks in advance, candyK
DaveUK
Hi Candy! The D3000 kit lens is 18-55 (which in real terms is about 28-80mm) If its specifically a Nikon lens that's required then the Nikon 10-24mm f3.5-4.5 G AF-S DX is very good but quite pricey! Look for similar by Sigma, Tamron and Tokina. But, like I mentioned, extreme wide angles come at a price! I suppose you could look for one second hand (used) on ebay and such. Hope this helps
candyK
Thanks Dave. I'm looking at a 24mm f 2.8 and a 35mm f1.8g. Do you think the zoom is needed?
DaveUK
Not necessarily! - Just might increase his available range. Out of the 2 you mentioned the 24mm is probably the better option. It depends on how much he wants to include in his shots. Don't go too wide though, or the shots will get barrel distortion.
