This Christmas my Aunt gave me a large gift bag full of my grandmother's old cookbooks. That was a treasure unto itself, until I discovered that hidden between the pages were recipes written on scraps of paper my her. I was truly lightheaded to find these. She is almost 93 and will always be my most cherished person. Some of the recipes are illegible due to time and use; but they are in her own hand and beautiful to me. In opening up one folded piece of paper I even found flour in the crease.:) Going through them I must say that quite a few tears fell. It was like being transported back to my childhood and dinner at her house, I seem to remember the desserts best!

Today I started scanning and scrapping these precious scraps of paper. I may also scan cookbook pages with her notes written by favourite recipes. I plan on making a few books for the ladies in the family, and will share my pages with my Grandmother as I finish them.

Posting this will help me stick to my plan and get it done! If you have any advice or suggestions for scrapping old recipes, or for kits I would appreciate hearing it!

Be sure to try to scan the ones that are faded. You can sometimes recover the text by adjusting the levels. You probably wouldn't be able to scrap them, but you may be able to get the recipes.
I found a negative that I could tell was my great grandmother- and the reason I'd never seen it was because it was very over-exposed. I was able to fix it in photoshop and it is one of the best photos we have of her.

My Gallery I scrap with Photoshop CS6, but can help with older versions: PS7, CS2 & CS4. Posted Image

This is so true - we found a bunch of hundred year old letters from my great-grandparents. We tried reading them, but it was difficult and frustrating. My mother and I thought we'd divide up the task. She put some of the letters on her all in one to make copies for me.

It was amazing just how much clearer and more legible just the copy was! Scan them - I bet you'll be able to read them better!

Yes! I've had that experience also where the copies were easier to read.
Oh, what a wonderful, wonderful gift to receive and reading your post made me shiver.
I'm glad for you that you have them!
