Help
I heard of them, don't know what it means or why I do it. I learned to do it in the 3D titles class but I never did find out why we had to simplify layers. So if you are one to do it. Why and what does it mean and what are the benefits of doing this???

To "simplify" a layer means to change it from a type layer or a shape layer or any of those types of layers into a normal image layer. Sometimes simplifying is necessary to do things like add styles, use brushes, or otherwise edit your layer.

Simplifying your layers can also mean flattening them, it is a way to make the files smaller in size. I like to keep the layers myself so I can go back in and make changes if I want to.

Amy, here's what I do: I duplicate the text layer, turn off the visibility of one. Simplify the other, and go from there. If I discover a typo later, etc, I still have the non-simplified version I can go back to.

Exactly my technique as well. But like you, Cheri, I NEVER make typos.......EVER! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!
