i have used some alphas that are on squares...and then i am using some text... i would like the text to overlap on the backround paper and on the alphas but i think realistically there would be a little shadow or difference in the color so i would like to know how do you do that...i think i took a class at sg but cant recall where they showed me with stampers how you do that... oh dear i have forgotten...i will attach a lo that would be any example...

link 1

the word scrapbooking is on the journaling paper and the backround paper..so how to make it look real...like stamped on both surfaces... Attached File  2011-1-11 estible in snow_600.jpg (540.77K)
Number of downloads: 29 here it is attached

link 2 alphas and the text..the text is partially on the alphas so if you wrote on the alphas and then also on the backround paper i think it would show a bit differently so how do you do that??? with a shadow???Attached File  2010-9-6 rick and nate beaches and definiton_600.jpg (463.37K)
Number of downloads: 21

hope i have explained myself and what i would like to learn/understand..thank you so much for your expertise

I think what you are trying to do is explained in the ebook Mastering Brushes for Photoshop Elements on pages 16-18. Here is the link to the Photoshop version If you don't have the brush(es), you can always create brushes from the alphas that you have - the technique is also covered in the book. BTW, it's an excellent book. (On sale now too!) HTH

Sarah Batdorf had a tutorial about making realistic drop shadows that give the illusion of a deeper shadow where papers, photos and embellishments overlap each other. She used Deep Shadows and Basic Shadows. It was in an August 2009 NL, I don't know if it is in the University or not, but I kept a copy. PM me if you would like me to email it to you.

Pages 73-89 in the ebook cover creating your own brushes. There is also a University tutorial here that may be helpful for what you want to do: Realistic Stamping on Layered Items. Here's one other one: Turning PNG Doodles into Brushes in PS or PSE :)

Thanks so much for this link, Ariadna! I remember reading this in August but not understanding at the time. It is making sense to me now, and I hope to try it out later! Really great info!

Thanks for asking this question, Bobbie!

Hey Bobbie!

I saw in the other thread that you figured it out.

If anyone has any questions, let me know. As I wrote in the tutorial - treating each layer differently (with a brush or the Blended Style) creates even more realistic effects, because the stamp reacts with different surfaces differently (the ink is absorbed more or less for example). You may want to try this too.
