Sarah, I liked the tut in the newsletter today. The way you describe expanding the canvas is the way I always did it until I learned this little trick. If you use the crop tool and select the whole canvas you can then expand it by dragging the sides out to where ever you want them. Doing it this way you can add just to one side, or different amounts to each side. Also a lot quicker than going to the image/canvas size ...etc.

I like your suggestion and I've done this type of sizing when my template is already on a background that is the size that I want. However, the newsletter tut has shown me a way to size a template to the dimensions that I want, so I can work with it before I add it to my layout. Both ways are cool! It just depends on how/where I am going to work with the template, as to which process is used. :-)
