Bride
Well, this morning I got a real surprise when I woke up! Let me back up and just tell you, I have had a horrendous week at work (and it is ONLY Wednesday!) Both Monday and Tuesday I walked into work and was immediately hit with crisis that only I could deal with – why is that? Tuesday was particularly bad because there were only two of us in the office, the custodian was coming in late, and we were having a major flooding from a roof leak. So, as a result, I was overly tired last night and went to bed at a decent hour. My body is so conditioned to getting up at 4:30 to fix DH’s breakfast and pack his lunch, and on M,W,F I try to make it to the pool for a water aerobics class. Well, this morning, I must have slept really hard because I opened my eyes and immediately saw the clock (I sleep on my side facing my radio) and the time read 5:45 and I panicked because DH has to leave the house by 5:00 am to make it to work in time. So I reached behind me and nudged the warm body snuggled up to my back and said, “Honey! Don’t you have to work today?” He didn’t answer, so I rolled over and there was Lakota, our youngest Australian Shepherd. Now we have a rule at our house, no dogs on the beds and to my knowledge, that rule has never been violated, but imagine the surprise look on my face when I discovered it was not my husband! The minute I said, “Lakota!”, she jumped up and hopped off the bed, then looked at me with those “sheepish” eyes. Now how can you be mad at that? Well of course, I had to call Tom and tell him so we both got a little chuckle out of it this morning.

Becca
Coming from another family who has the "no dogs allowed on the bed" rule, I can just imagine your surprise!
BarbaraC1977
We allow our cats to sleep on our bed (who could prevent it?) and there's very little as nice as a warm kitty's body snuggled next to your legs or hip. Funny confusion with a large dog, though!
JenW
LOL! That would have been a big surprise!
NS_Scrapper
LOL - maybe she shouldn't be in trouble -- sounds like she helped you stay cozy and warm to get a little extra shut-eye.
Barb Hughes
She was just comforting you in your weariness! Yeah, I'll NOT buy that... she was looking for her own comfort in hubby's slot. LOL Cute. My girl dog has done that!
Bride
Its hard to be too mad at her - she has the sweetest disposition and is a pleaser - unlike Raven who is very strong willed and tried to get away with things ... I'm actually surprised it was Lakota, but then she is the one who loves to be loved on!!
Ngaire
Are you sure it wasn't Tom who sneaked her there to keep you company because he felt sorry for you and didn't want you to wake up so early!!!
