I use PSE4 and it took me awhile to feel comfortable using it. If you can purchase a book explaining each technique and just sit down each day and work on a few techniques at a time, you will be amazed at how quickly you start to catch on. I like the books written by Scott Kelby. They start from the very beginning explaining step by step. There are also some helpful tutorials in the SG Boutique on PSE. HTH

:partytime2: Thanks so much ladies... I kinda figured that. I will take a weekend off. I got those twins working me. Then my other three children that I am keeping on track. I will look for the tutorials on PSE. I notice the colors are brighter. I am new to Scrapbooking. I love buying from scrap girls. So addicting her store. Made me start a store so I can spend more at scrap girls I love this site.

Sorry, I have to go with Paint Shop. It has considerably more features than PSE, and if designing is your end goal, I think you'll need some of those features. I have them both. I play with PSE but I work with PSP.

For instance, in PSE 4, you cannot even rotate the direction of brushes when using them with the eraser tool. It allows you to rotate them with the paint brush, but not the eraser. There's no way to do fancy edge effects without rotating brushes.

Elements also won't do scripting/action, which, for designers who have to do the same thing over and over again, is a must. And it limits the amount of filters/plugins you can have and where you can put them.

PSP is more comparable to PS than PSE. PSP does about 90% of what PS does. And PS does about 90% of what PSP does. But PSP can now be found for $30 or so compared to hundreds of dollars for PS. So I'd go the cheaper and better route and get PSP.

I have to go with PSPX too. I have PSE3 and play with it mostly when using the scrapsimple line of SG products or doing that kind of work. I use PSPX for almost everything else! The only issue with PSPX is it is a memory HOG! LOL I had to upgrade to 2.5G ram just to be able to have PSP and Outlook open at the same time!

I agree it does hog memory. I just crashed right now. I had three papers I was making and it just crashed. I noticed it cant hold much in the palate so I just work on 2 at a time. But yes I love PSP X I wish most of her tuts were in psp x because i would buy more simple templates. For now I am winging it. I just learned to today from her newsletter to use brushes I made some nice papers would share them but I am clues to where to put them. So I put them on my forum. Just click where it says Sametra's Creations. You can see some papers in the free section called digital papers. But Yes PsP 10 is better but PSE has some advantages I dont see where you can use the brushes and make it curve into a line to form a ribbon.

The reason that there aren't very many tuts in PSP is because an awfully lot of them are written by the team members. Since there are relatively few people that use PSP (sorry... I know that the loyal PSP users don't like to hear that, but sales and survey stats show that this is true), we have a hard time getting hold of PSP tuts. But we try!

I did cover a few of the topics that are necessary for someone to use the templates in Secrets for PSPX because....

A. We had released the ScrapSimple products by that time
B. I knew that it would be a while before I got around to doing another version of Secrets for PSP

I am currently working on a More Scrapbook Secrets series that will cover the ScrapSimple products very well. I have to start with the software that is used the most so I am starting out on PSE, will then move to Photoshop and then will do PSP.

We are trying to do things for the PSP folks as much as possible because we know that you guys do love it a lot.

:dancingelephant: Thanks RO for doing the PSP 10 Secrets I learned from it. I still trying to get the hang of the Curve on text. The one where it not in a circle but an actual curve. But Now they have come out with PSP 11 I tell you not much of a difference. The one thing I notice is that there is a new tool called skin smoothing. I just loved it. Well I look forward to more PSP related items.

I still looking for tuts on psp 10 for scrapbooking they are hard to find. So I am like self teaching myself. Using my brains lol...
Your the greatest hun..
Have a great night.

That text on a curve one is hard. I had to practice to get it! It is all in how you hold your mouse over that line. Gotta get that A going over the line. Keep watching that movie until the light goes on. I wish I would have had a movie when I was figuring it out. I just had to go INSANE trying to figure it out. (Oh man... those help files are impossible... I had to search and search online for the answer and I finally found something that almost - but not quite - gave me a clue how to do it. Then I had to practice and bang my computer until I got it.... LOL) But once I got it, it was LIGHT BULB!
