I've been working on a traditional paper wedding album for my niece, and want to make a copy for my sister, her mother. Can't do two paper albums - some of the paper I'm using is no longer available, and time and cost would be prohibitive. So I've been scanning each page as I finish it. My scanner bed is almost 12 x 9, which means I need four scans to include the whole page. And the cover opens on the long side, so I have to turn the page 180 degrees for the second two scans. That creates shadows on different sides of the resulting images. Editing the merged images with PSE usually works, but it's time consuming. Has anyone encountered this issue, and found a simpler solution - short of going to Kinko's and paying them to scan the pages? There are NO dedicated scrapbook stores nearby; the closest is about 40 miles around the DC beltway. And to the best of my knowledge, neither Michael's, A.C. Elisha Posted February 18, 2011 Share Posted February 18, 2011 You might try photographing your layouts. If I were doing this (I am by no means a professional photographer!!!), that's what I'd try. The trouble is to get them perfectly square so the edges aren't skewed, so that you could completely crop out the background. You might try putting them on the floor and shooting down. also you might try using handi-tak (a removable putty that doesn't damage walls) to stick it to the wall. then use a tripod with your camera right in front of it as close as you can get. There is a business called "Scrapbooks to Share" that does exactly what you are looking for. They scan paper scrapbooks, save it to a disc, and then print 12 x 12 pages from the scan. Although I have not availed myself of this specific service, they have printed the vast majority of the digital pages that I have had printed so far, and they have done a wonderful job. Their prices for printing are quite reasonable. And you end up with all the pages on a disc for archiving purposes, or for reprints.
