I talked to dh and we decided to do the online program. The at work program was $186 up front and a comitment of 17 weeks. With 3 kids I need to be a bit more flexible than that. I know with the on line tools and a cookbook (which is at Costco) we'll be fine. The key is to do SOMETHING, right?

And yes Dot, your "tidbits" are very interesting, keep sharing.

Yay, Melanie! That's great!
And I agree, the tidbits are great, Dot. :)

I'm glad to see so many of us are doing this. I have browsed the WW message boards the past few days but I don't feel inspired to post there. lol I used to be very active there years ago. In 2004, I think. But I just don't feel connected there now. Not like I do with fellow ScrapGirls! lol

Yesterday went well for me. Points wise. I don't think I had enough vegetables though. Gee, did I even eat a vegetable yesterday? I did have fruit but I need to make sure to include veggies. I still haven't had a chance to look through the cookbook I bought. I want to get by Walmart to see if they have the 5 ingredient one. I assume it's a new Points Plus version.

Oh, now that I've thought about it, I did have tomato and cucumber and lettuce yesterday.
I still need to increase the veggies.

Okay, signed up for WW Online. Weighed and measured. Now I will read all the info and get an eating plan together this weekend and really get started on Monday. Dh is doing it also, but will be out of town, so I have to find him some healthy dining out options.

I am going to do my weigh ins on Fridays, what days do you other ladies weigh in?

I weigh in on Saturday mornings.

Melanie,
Before you go shopping, read some of the articles at ww online. There are some super ones about power foods, family friendly meal plans and budget wise shopping and things like that. You'll probably like them, I printed several out and refer to them a lot.

Weigh in is on Monday! After the weekend! LOL.

My favorite take away saying from all the (many) meetings I have attended is.....

"If hunger isn't the problem, then food is not the solution."

Like that? So often I find myself looking in the refrigerator, and if I remember to ask myself if I am actaully hungry or just bored, it's a 75-25 split of boredom over hunger. For bored, fill in......... stressed, angry, happy, sad, anxious.....

Good one, Dot! I'll need to remember that at some point. Right now, I'm highly motivated. But, I suspect that enthusiasm will wane a bit at some point and I'll have to tell myself that quote on occasion.

I just found this thread and am so happy to see so many taking charge of their health! I am a Lifetime member since 1986, but have fallen off the wagon a few times - I get lazy and stop tracking and eating the right food. But that's what's great about WW; every day is a new day and you just start over!

I started again seriously January 2010 (using the Monthly Pass program) because I'm older now and need to change my lifestyle. I started out really good and lost 30 lbs by August. Was looking better and feeling good so my DH joined me too (he does his with paper/pen). Then, we went on an extended Amtrak trip and I fell off track (pun intended), and have been lazy about getting serious again. I've regained a little, not all of the 30, and have started tracking and buying the right foods again. I love the eTools and track on my mobile phone. It's like a game.

I used to weigh in on Friday mornings on my way to work but couldn't stay for the meetings. My leader has an email list and she sends out recipes and tips every month. I have gone off the Monthly Pass and am just using the eTools now. My DH and I still weigh in every Friday morning. He's doing better than me

In '86 I had lost my "baby fat" 20 lbs; I would like to lose 30 more to get within the healthy range for my height. I should be there by August. Hopefully!
Kathi

Ahhh, more of us to march together towards our goals! :)
:walkinghelmet: :walkinghelmet: :walkinghelmet: :walkinghelmet:

Melanie, I picked up that cookbook at Walmart the other day.
So, now I have 2 new cookbooks with PointsPlus points...and I still don't have the 5 ingredient one. lol

Kathi, for some reason, the men seem to lose weight faster than us gals. Drats! lol

Brenda, good for you! That's great that y'all are doing it together like that.

I have been thinking about going back to WW, and now that they have a new program I think I will. I just can't decide whether I want to go to meetings or do it online. I am a lifetime member, but I am above my goal weight, so I would have to pay if I went to meetings, so I'm kind of leaning to just doing it online. I pretty much depend on WW to keep me from gaining too much, and I think I need the new program. I'll make a decision in the next few days about which way to go. I skimmed through all your posts, and will go back and read them later today. Support is very important when you're trying to lose weight.

Here's a saying for today.

I weighed in and am down a pound. Anybody else weigh in this week? How are you doing girls? :scale:

I had a first last night....I weighed 2oz. of dry pasta and cooked only that much. It was really funny, because usually I just dump the whole box into a huge pot of boiling water and eat whatever I want. Last night, even if I wanted more, I'd have had to cook it and that was just too much trouble! I added some veggies and olives and it all worked out, but what a strange feeling! (and good I guess) LOL

I would cook the whole lot then freeze the portions in baggies and freeze. I am too lazy to cook a little at a time. :disappearing-smilie:
