teecee
I know this class Unmasking Layer Masks for Photoshop is meant for PS users, but since PSE9 has layer masks, would PSE9 users benefit from the class?
Belle
Thanks for asking Theresa. I would also like to know.
B&K Mom
I'm not sure, but I'll fire a PM to Mary Elizabeth who is teaching it. I'm sure she'll give us the dirt on that!

tiza126
That is a good question!! I'm not sure how the functionality of layer masks in PSE9 compares to PS...but I could sure use a class on them!!
teecee
It's a great question. I have also wrote Mary Elizabeth to find out. Thanks Brandie!
melissamargaret
How about those of us pre PSE9 users who have the layer mask download?
Laurel Lakey
It will have to depend on the capabilities of the layer masks in PSE9 and whether or not they work the same as the ones in Photoshop. But what a cool thing if it is! Having layer masks is one of the main reasons why I have the full version of Photoshop. They're not just useful for scrapbooking either, but for lots of photography editing as well.
tiza126
I'd be willing to be the "test dummy" and pay for the class with my PSE9 to see how well it works for future reference
Rose Ann
I just bought PSE9 and I have played around a little, but as far as I can tell, the layer mask has all the same capabilities as the one in CS4 (which I also have). It works the same way, same icon, same black conceals white reveals rules, has flow and opacity options. HTH
Belle
I have just bought PSE9 and do not have a cooking clue how it works. Still at the installing styles, actions and cursing stage. I will be giving this one a skip.
naninca
Belle, You made me laugh TWICE in your post! "Not a cooking clue" and "Still at the installing styles, actions and cursing stage." I can SOOOO relate! I got PSE9 for Christmas, and have yet to get fully up to speed. But I bought it for the layer masks, so I'd better get learning! A class, hmmm, maybe just what I need to kickstart it. ME's photography class was fabulous, so I'd expect no less from this one! Nancy
Cheri T
I too giggled at Belle's post:) I know all about cursing stages...Photoshop was giving me fits last night after the kids went to bed and I kept getting more and more frustrated with it (even after 2 reboots). This morning it's fine, go figure. Must have been telling me to get to bed, lol
MLLatscrapgirls
I went ahead and signed up for the class even though I am PSE 9 and not PS. I upgraded just to get the layer masks and am still trying to figure how how to take advantage of them! Thank you for posting the question! I hope Mary Elizabeth can help us out too. PS: Oh, yeah, definitely hear you about that whole cursing stage, lol!
scrappinchar
I just signed up for (well, paid for) the class. I just got PSCS5 this week. Yay! I'm looking forward to learning some more about it.
NS_Scrapper
Hi all: Sorry but I haven't been in since Thursday so I missed this discussion. I have not used PSE for some time so when I have questions about how the two compare or alternate strategies that could be used, I always get in touch with Anna or one of the other Scrap Girls that are more proficient with the program. I understand that most of the strategies will still be applicable but there might be some tweaks for earlier versions of PSE. I've written Anna to make sure and will keep you posted.
