It's Monday, and a rest day on my ChaLEAN Extreme workout. It's raining this morning, so that means hitting the treadmill today. Eeeewwwwww.... it's so hard to get back on there after being outside in the warmer weather, isn't it?

Not sure how or when, but I messed up my ankle. It's not swollen or discolored, but I have discomfort when I walk on it. It almost feels out-of-alignment, or maybe a strained muscle? So I'm going to try and take it easy for a couple days - maybe focus on some ab & arm workouts instead. Just watch, by the time my ankle feels better, it will be rainy & cold again.

I took my 7-year old with me the other day. I told her that she must be quiet the entire walk or she'd never come with me again. And she had to keep up. She did pretty well, too! At the end she said to me, "Good thing we stopped Mommy. My heart was hurting from beating so fast."

I just can't get into the gym thing - it bores me - as hard as I've tried, I just can't commit to it. But I am loving every minute of walking with nature!

Now that's one piece of equipment I love, Tiza! I can ride and ride and ride as long as I can watch tv or read or something. Good going, Tiza!

Sara, I don't like the gym either. It's a meat market for single people I think. Not my thing at all - even when I was single and skinny. LOL!
Angie, you amaze me, girlfriend! Are you finding yourself hungrier on the days you really get a good Bowflex workout in? Since starting ChaLEAN last week, I'm getting stomach-growling hungry by meal time and snack time. It's been a challenge to balance the right amount of good food to eat each meal or snack.
Sarah, do you have snow this morning? We do!
I haven't been walking much this week, because of ChaLEAN and some other things going on. I should jump on the treadmill today, since it's a CE rest day for me.
But I'm a bundle of nerves right now, waiting to hear if DH will be laid off today or not. It's been very stressful in our house these last few days with the not-knowing, but good possibility that he'll be job-less by the end of today's workday.

Becca - hope you get good news today. I've been there and it is very stressful. Thinking of you and your family and hope it all works out!

Unfortunately, we already heard back and the news is not good. He lost his job.

My ankle is pretty much back to normal. I think I must have strained a muscle during some exercise or walk over the weekend. One of my chores this week/weekend is to go to a running store and get some high-quality, good support walking shoes.

I find myself hungry all the time...LOL More now that i'm doing 5 miles on a regular basis. I try to time it though that i've eaten breakfast and by the time I get back it's almost lunch time. Then I grab a handful of nuts or a cheese stick when I get done to hold me over.
5 miles done today...it was nice to get back out there and that mini break that I took yesterday must of been perfect because my thighs felt fine today.

Angie, sounds like we snack on the same things! Cheese sticks and I love those cocoa-roasted almonds. In the morning, I indulge in one of the protein bar things. I try to find the ones that have as much protein as possible. Because after my workout in the morning, I'm usually starving. And I've even started eating a bigger breakfast to compensate for that. Adding an egg or so with my bowl of cereal each day.
I love that your boys are working out with you! That's awesome! My daughter joined me for the yoga part of ChaLEAN last Sunday, and I told her we now have a standing date with that every week.
Tiza, have fun shoe shopping! I just did that myself a couple of weeks ago and it makes a world of difference.
No walking again for me today, but it's Thursday. So that means Burn Circuit 2 with ChaLEAN and then ballet class tonight.

Tiza, I've been trying - and failing - to jog. So I've been sticking to brisk walking.
I got only 1mi in yesterday evening. It was "that kind" of evening and I just vegged out.

Tonya, thank you - I've learned a lot with this walking threads these last few weeks. You're going to have good days, you're going to have bad days. I kind of look at the situation with DH's job in the same way. It was out of our control and the best we can do is move forward from it. Action sure beats standing still, even if it's baby steps.
That's not to say I didn't break down and cry a few times yesterday. I did. I got angry and wanted to scream, too. But today's a new day, and DH is about to walk out the door to a job interview. So it's all good.
Tiz and Tonya, I'm trying to jog/run a bit more. I'm not having much success when I'm outside, but I do OK on the treadmill. I'm a lot like you two... sometimes I just walk briskly, other times I jog in short bursts. It's not easy.
I'm thinking of looking into one of the Couch to 5K programs sometime when the weather is a bit warmer and more "stable" (as in no snow surprises.) Has anyone ever done one of those?

Becca, I have the C-5k app on my Android phone - it will give me the spoken cues as to when to jog and when to walk. But it doesn't include any music (like the downloadable podcasts), so I can listen to my own tunes. I haven't used it yet, though, because even their "novice day 1" is too much for me.

Off for my walk today...3 miles is on the agenda. I SOOOO do not want to do this today. I just told Gary what I would rather do right now is go to Sonic and get a fish sandwich (love them..and they are back for a bit) and tots. I'm going to be good though and go walk and dream of what my lunch will be today.

Way to push yourself to go walking, Angie! If it's as cold & blustery there as it is here, I wouldn't want to walk today either.
