I don't know if you have tried the recipe builder on WW, but it is so annoying!! It adds the points up so wacky! I just put in a smoothie of strawberries, a banana, 3oz of yogurt and a cup of milk. According to the points separately it would be 4 points, but the recipe builder gave it 9!! That's a big difference! This happens with a lot of recipes I "build" but it is usually only a point or 2 different, but 5 points??

I am starting to believe that maybe they haven't worked out all the kinks of the new plan. There are many instances where I have looked a food up on the site and then calculated the points with the nutritional info on the package and they have come out different. Also, I have noticed that they don't seem to have as many restaurant food points as they used to. (That's why I still refer to Dottie's Weghit Loss Zone for restaurant info)

Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying the new plan, and mostly losing on it, there are just some things that bug me about it.

Thank you for listening to my frustrations, I feel better now.

I had so many recipes entered on the site with the old system.... I'm just a little too lazy to re-do them all. I'm just counting real calories. ;)

ITA, Melanie. I had the same result with my smoothies- crazy! I meant to ask the leader about that but haven't been back. Makes no sense....the calorie count doesn't change when it's liquified. I wonder if they are upping the points because the fiber is possibly reduced? But still, fruit is supposed to be zero.

I had the same result with the recipe builder. I'm not happy about it either.

I read somewhere, I don't remember where, that fruit is not 0 when you use it in a recipe. Anyone else? I haven't done a recipe yet that uses fruit.

I see how it can get confusing.
I did a search of the WW site. Here's how one person responded to a similar question:

The Recipe Builder doesn't total the points shown in the right column. It totals the NI for all ingredients, including free fruits and veggies. This is how WW has always calculated points for all their recipes. That is how they designed the Recipe Builder to work.

If you are making something like a smoothie or a sandwich, don't use the Recipe Builder. If it's a combination you will have frequently, make the entries in the tracker and save it as a meal. Use the builder for something like a casserole that makes several servings.

WW gives us the choice of how we want to handle fruit and veggies in recipes.

and this is in one of the WW articles:
8. Fruit (and vegetables) in recipes still contribute toward the PointsPlus valuesJust as we've always done with 0 PointsPlus value vegetables, even 0 PointsPlus value fruits contribute toward the total PointsPlus values of a recipe, whether it's a Weight Watchers recipe or one you build yourself in the Recipe Builder. Recipes add up the nutritional info for all their ingredients. If you ate fruit only, save it as a "meal" rather than a "recipe."

by the way, when I've tracked my smoothies, I just put the items down individually:
1 banana
1 cup of milk
1 tbsp dry pudding mix
etc

Thanks for doing the research on the RecipeBuilder. That explains it!
