I joined an excersize club a few years ago and was doing okay with it, except for when I noticed a few of the girls snickering. How rude is that?

Gggrrrr... that just irks me.

My husband's family actually laughs in my face, because I signed myself up for ballet in January. It's one day a week, an Adult Beginner class. DH's family thinks it's downright hilarious that my overweight-self puts on ballet slippers and takes a dance class. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not even close to "graceful" during class, but all that matters to me is that it's a lot of fun and I've met some great friends that way.

Oh shoot... forgot to admit that I didn't walk at all yesterday. It was a ChaLEAN day for me, though. Today's a walking day, and I'll be hitting that treadmill as soon as the kids are off to school.

It's they who will miss out on the fun. I took balllet for a year and a bit when I was a kid. It'a a wonderful way to excersize - lots of stretches! lol As for graceful - the classes will help with that. I think it's wonderful that you've joined a ballet class and know that you'll enjoy it.

I don't think it's a biggy if you miss a walk here or there, as long as you get some kind of routine set up. I remember reading somewhere that for an exercise routine to be beneficial, it needs to be done four or five times a week.

I didn't get a walk in yesterday, but I did clean up some of the winter debri from the patio. I guess that yard cleaning will be part of my routine. lol It'll take a while to do an acre, but I'll have it done by the end of summer. roflol :-) I do have to get my front garden cleaned up as soon as it thaws a bit more. Rosie (the puppy) thought it was made just for her, if you know what I mean. roflol

Welcome Heatheranne!

My goal is to work out five times a week with a combo of walking, walking videos and pilates. My dd Kailey has been working out with me using the Leslie Sansone videos and it is so much more fun doing it with her and it goes by so fast!
I have been walking everyday outside with my son and it just makes me happy when the sun is shining and the birds are singing :) and the bonus is that I am a lot less hungry by breaking up my workouts into two times a day.

Thank you for the welcome, Syndee. My, it sounds like you're a power exercizer! lol Having someone to do some of your workouts with is a definate bonus and a wonderful way to bond with your kids. I know what you mean about how great it feels to be outside on a sunny day, listening to the songbirds and walking - okay, I stroll more than walk, but I'm moving - so it counts. lol Two shorter workouts a day, makes good sense instead of one long one. I'll start walking the dogs once a day, then when it's a little warmer, I'll walk them twice a day, like I used to. Walking around the stores, lifting, carrying and putting groceries away, was enough of a workout for me today. I was outside for a short walk with the dogs before I went shopping, but now it's time to play. Ummmm, I think there's a chat now - I must go check... Have a great night! :-)

Ahh, it would be nice to see some warm, sunny weather here! I'm doing my walking workouts in the chilly, dark basement after dd is in bed and usually get them finished up after 9pm. I meant to get mopping in tonight too but it'll have to wait till tomorrow night now (yes, mopping does count as exercise!).

Glad you got in some activity Heatheranne and everyone!

(Becca, I'm doing an eye-roll at your in-laws. pfftt! what do they know! If you want to do it and its a happy time for you, go for it! My dd is in ballet every Saturday from Jan till the end of May. All the jumping, running, twirling looks like lots of exercise and fun!)

I agree mopping and vacuuming count as exercise - it's hard work! LOL Although I have a Dyson vacuum now and it practically does all the work by itself :)

'morning, everyone!

Yesterday, the sun came out in the morning. So as soon as the kids left for school, DH and I headed out with AJ (our Golden Retriever) for a walk. It was cold, but oh, the sun felt ssssoooo good and we stayed out walking much past our usual 2-mile walk. By the time we got back, we had walked almost 5 miles. It felt great to be out like that, and I'm glad we got it in. By early afternoon, the rain came back and it's supposed to stick around now until Saturday.

Today's Thursday... a ChaLEAN day and ballet class tonight. Catch up with you all tomorrow!

Becca, it sounds like yesterday was a beautiful day and you took full advantage of it. It's wonderful that you had such a great day! Ummm, what does ChaLEAN day mean? Have a great time at your ballet class! :-)

My plan for today is to finish my mail, do a little digi, walk the dogs and go out for an appointment and I think I'll go get that printer/scanner that I was looking at yesterday. I just hope it's as good as the sales guy says it is. I'm not sure if I'll get any exercise tonight other than house stuff and I want to work on my project again.

Have a great day, everyone! :-)

I haven't done anything the last couple days, so I'm due for a walk today. I hope the rain holds off for me!

Hey ladies I did 70 minutes walking today. I figure that's almost 4 (18 minute) miles. tomorrow I might take the kids to the track and get in a mile with them.

Keep up the good work everyone.

I did some walking tonight! I walked all over the neighborhood - From the Metro station to Panera Bread (for dinner), from Panera to Target (for some shopping), then from Target to my apartment. Total walking = 3.1 miles, 53 minutes (not counting the time at each stop).

Bought myself some new walking shoes tonight at Target. These have lots of support and cushioning, unlike the tennis shoes I have been wearing. My feet feel like they are walking on pillows now. Much better!

I didn't get in any walking yesterday - but I did vacuum/sweep/mop the floor so that counts for something. Tonight I got in my 2mi walking working. Get this - I did part of the workout while I was doing the supper dishes! What a way to multi-task!

Hoping to get a long treadmill walk in tomorrow. We're supposed to have a nice, springy weekend - maybe I'll get in a walk outside!

I've gotten a short walk in each day for the past few days and with the way the sun is peaking out, I think I'll make it out some time today. No - I haven't got a schedule of a certain time, but I'm getting that little extra each day. :-)

This has been a good week for me. I was able to hit the pool Mon, Wed, and Fri at 5:30 AM for an hour of water aerobics. Monday I walked on my lunch hour 30 mins. Tues and Thursday I tried a free session at Curves. Plan on getting in a long walk today as it is sunny out!

Went for a 1.8 mile walk this morning. Blah it's gotten hot & humid here in St. Louis already. :whew: Where did Springtime go?? We went straight to summer. :happy-sun:

Today is also cleaning day in my apartment - planning to dust the entire apartment, wash the walls, vacuum, clean the bathroom, and do laundry. That should burn a few more calories ;)

Have a great weekend everyone!

4 miles? You are my hero. I couldn't make myself go any further. It's too hot! Crazy to think about the June & July heat...

Its obviously a lot warmer where you guys are than here! Although today is just great out there - but long sleeves are still needed.

I didn't get any walking yesterday - other than all the walking around the yard cleaning it up, hauling away the winter debris. I think that counts for something.

I got in 2.5mi on the treadmill this morning, then some heavy housework, then a nice bike ride around the neihbourhood!

I think I got in enough walking to meet my goal this week - but I'd still like to do better.

I think yesterday it hit high 80's with a ton of humidity...it was just nasty!

Today I got the 5 miles and grass mowed before it got to bad out.
