Help - Create Sparkles, Color In An Image

hi folks!

i have two questions about this graphic (from a friend's website)

how do i make something sparkle like the hearts and the flowers - i bought a brush set MRE_starbright brush set - do i just throw a few in on a few different layers and then save as a GIF?

how do i color a digital image in with shading like this? is that a hard thing to do?

I wish that I could help you with that. Animations are on my list of things to learn, but it hasn't made it to the top yet. lol The lovely name tag that I'm using was made by one of the SG members as a gift to me. I know that there are a few here who know how to make animations and hopefully one will come along and help you out. :-)

I could walk you through the process (if you are using a version of PSE) or you could just go check out this free tutorial: ANIMATION

If you have any questions after watching that lesson, let me know, it's really pretty easy, just a lot of steps.

If you're talking about the background, it looks as if it might be a cloud paper.

What software are you using? Have you gone through Ro's Secrets Revealed yet? Very helpful in so many areas!!

Shading like that can be achieved by "painting" in a darker shade using your brush tool. In my scrapping however, I usually use my burn and dodge tools to create shading and highlights. The burn tool will darken the area, and the dodge tool will lighten it.

I've always wanted to learn animation. It's on my list, but way down at the bottom. I'm just learning how to use the Lasso tool.

There are a couple of ways to do the shading but one really easy one is to use a gradient. Select the area you want to shade, be sure the two colors in your foreground and background are the dark and light colors you want, and choose the gradient tool. There are several so you may want to play around a bit the first time, but it can look amazing!
