It's Mischief Week! And we are walking our way to a healthy active lifestyle. Come join us.

Question: When you go walking either outside or on the treadmill...How do you walk? Do you lengthen your stride? Quicken your pace? Walk at a normal pace? Swing your arms? Tuck in your tummy/Abs and Butt/Gluts muscles?

When I walk, I walk my dog at the same time and she designates the pace! She is little, and she is fast, so I have to quicken my walk to just keep up with her. Guess she is my official coach!

I walked 3 miles on Monday, and 3 miles on Tuesday. Now that the days are longer I can walk after Hubby gets home from work.

When I walk I pick up my knees a little, pretend like I'm going up some shallow stairs. I quicken my pace and stretch my stride just a little bit. I don't swing my arms much. I try to tighten my abs and gluts and leg muscles. I often forget to keep the muscles tightened.

We had a break in the rain yesterday and I took a small 1.1 mile walk after lunch - I needed a break from the office.

I generally have a fast-pased walk to begin with, but sometimes I will do little spurts (15-30 seconds) of jogging, just to get my heart-rate up. I like to walk in the park by my house, because it has a few hills & inclines. I'm usually too focused on breathing and avoiding the goose poop on the sidewalks, that I forget to keep my muscles tightened.

I got a 4 mile walk in on Sunday, and then Monday I did a mile on the treadmill and bowflex. I'm about to head out now for my first walk outside for almost a week (except on Sunday, of course)

When walking I just try to keep a steady pace. I've choosen a route that has several hills/inclines in it. After walking around town a few times i've found which directions has the largest hills, and have made those part of my walk. Of course as i'm walking I always dread the "big hill" I know is coming up...but once i'm up it, it's nice.

Here too Tiza - big thunder-boomers this am!! I did get to the pool both Monday and today for a one hour each workout. Tuesday I did nothing - the rain and over-busy too!

Got 6 miles in yesterday..it felt GREAT to be out there again after not walking outside for so long. It was cold and drizzly...but I loved it

Would you ladies mind if I joined in?

I figure that maybe if I had a group of like-minded gals to lend a bit of encouragement I might stick to my diet and exercise goals a little better, and it would make me a little more accountable than doing it on my own.

I didn't get a walk in yesterday. I did 1 mile tonight. It was a bit drizzly so I stayed close to home. The sun is out now though!
