So I've watched Extreme Couponing a few times and I'm totally hooked on trying to save a few $ groceries :) I'm in Canada, so a few of the rules don't apply (like double coupons & the store coupon card). And really, I'm not looking to get huge stockpiles of things (5000 tubes of toothpaste is just ridiculous!) but for some things I'd love to have extras around the house :)

But... having said that... I have a few websites that I frequent and I've gotten some amazing deals. Today I got a free box of Special K and another at 75% off! and everything I bought today was on sale + I had coupons for a few things. I saved about 15%... which is pretty good. I want to try and get closer to 50% if I can tho. Today I had to buy a quite a few things that I didn't have coupons for... but I'm gonna keep at it... watching the sales and using the coupons. Yay, it's fun.

Anybody else here coupon? Any other Canadians coupon? Lets share our websites, tricks and ideas to save $s :)

Lets make a list!

Canadian coupon sites:
websaver .ca (free box of Chocolate Cheerios right now)
save .ca
womenfreebies .ca
smartcanucks .ca

US coupon sites:
Passion for Savings on FB

Other:
weusecoupons .com

Hi Andrea,
I've been doing couponing for the last 3 weeks...I mean really got into it LOL! This morning I saved 84% both at walmart and rite aid. I do belong to a couple sites also but not sure about Canada. I know there are a few canadians on weusecoupons.com so if you want to check that out thats fine. Feel free to email me off Scrap Girls if you wish. I will never go to the extremes that they show on the show simply because I live on disability but I do realize that there are cycles and since there are cycles I'm content just to watch and wait and get what I can now and not panic. I doubt I can do a huge stockpile within a month...especially one that will last a year! LOL....but I've got a decent small pile of household items that I do use. I will never use coupons for things I do NOT use...and the ones I don't use I'll either trade or send the expired ones to our military who can use them overseas.

Hey, Vaughnde!
I'm sooooo happy to see you on the mb, girl! I have missed you so much around these parts!

I am not as good about couponing as I should be - I clip, and save them but I always forget to take them to the grocery store with me! I do remember my green bags when I go though! I really need to do better with this, cause I've watched that show too and the savings are phenomenal! Of course, couponing can be a full time job!

Thanks for posting this reminder, Andrea! You may just get something good going here!

Great topic! I have been couponing since February! I agree that the Extreme Couponing is well, EXTREME. I will never forget the girl thought bought 62 bottles of mustard. Really??? Why? Anyway....I have a few local (midwest) sites that I follow. Most of which have facebook pages that are most helpful! Couponmom dot com is a good site to help match up coupons with deals you are seeing in your local stores.

Thanks for starting this thread! I'm anxious to see what other ideas people have!!

Locally I use:

Yahoogroups has a new group called what else? Extreme Couponing :) Most are newbies like me and most of us do not do the EXTREME stuff so if you want more help, advice and what not come on over :)

Hello to my friends! Life has kept me busy...thot I was gonna have a nice break until tomorrow but something happened and now Jamie is gonna come home shortly. So at least I got a 24 hour break :) I love raising my grandson but he sure keeps me busy at 20 months old. Keep praying for us though as his nutritional needs are something we are still working on. Verbally he is catching up fast and he's learning more and more signs...a very bilingual grandson. If ya want to keep up with me, feel free to email. I can answer emails much faster than I can post on the boards lately. Love ya All!

I started couponing a couple months ago too. I have found the key is to only buy things that I absolutely need right then or things that I can double up coupons on; 1 manufacturer's coupon and 1 store coupon. I check out Penny Pinching Moms (same one Conda suggested), Savvy Dollar Deals, Creative Couponing, and Simple Saving Savvy all on Facebook. I *love* the sites that will suggest pair ups for you (manufacturer coupon and store coupon and sale) and give you the final cost. I have been able to get a few things either free or for just pennies (dental floss, pain reliever, cough drops, etc.).

[Have to send a shout out to Vaughnde too - I was just thinking about you a week or so ago and was wondering where you were and what you were up to! I'm glad to see you!]

You are right Cherise...I stock up on the cheap stuff!! At CVS recently I got 6 body washes for something crazy like .32!! TOTAL!! I had a rain check for $2.99, plus 3/b1g1 and 3/$2 off...I saved like $42!! I would never have bought body wash at CVS, it's retail is 6.99!!

One thing I am noticing is to buy the smaller size of items. They are cheaper to begin with so if they are on sale and then you have a coupon (or two if you can stack). For example, a 3 pack of dove @ wal-mart is .97, and there is a $1 off coupon. FREE :) Free is good!

I'll check out the other sites! Thanks!!

Thank You!

Yes you can save on things you know you will use. I finally went through the house this evening and did an inventory of all that I've purchased in the last 3 weeks and have a mini stock pile on....I'm still reeling from what I've purchased. Today my best buys were 2 Precise Pain relieving cream put out by Tylenol from Rite Aid for free! Cost $5 in the store with coupon from sunday's paper for $5 equals free. Plus Fixodent at Walmart cost $3.47 each, with 3 $3 off coupons only costing me a total of $1.41 for all 3! That was my best deal of the day. Although I did have a Walgreens Run today as well paying only $10.27 and saving $11.33 in coupons. I'm gonna take a break from shopping for at least a week or two....other than groceries! LOL. I'm really pleased with what I have so far and know that if I need it, I have it on hand to use. I also know that things go on sale in cycles so whats on sale now probably won't be on sale again for another 3-4 months...so this is a good time to stock up.

I really want to start doing this, having a limited budget from being a sahm and getting groceries with one income is a bit ...limiting at times! I've been wanting to start planning my meals and finding coupons would be a tremendous help!

Well, I took my coupons to the grocery store yesterday and gasped when I saw the total - THEN she rang in the coupons and I saved $11.62 so thinkin' I need to get into this even more now!

Let's see - computer time, Scrap Girl time, housework (nah!) and now coupon clipper girl! I'd say I'm a working Mom!

ROFL! Don't be surprised when some of us say we spend up to at least 5 hours a week or more just clipping the coupons. After I did my mini inventory I realized I had enough for at least 3 months (dish soap, laundry soap and personal/household) to keep me going for a bit. Now I only need to stock up groceries when those go on sale and the coupon savings on groceries are NOT as good as on household, etc but its worth it believe me as long as its not something that you normally do not get or use. Since the last sunday of the month there is no coupons or inserts in the papers due to memorial day weekend, I'm definitely taking a break until the first sunday of June inserts. :D

My stock pile has grown but recently I was able to take some of them to a get together for my church for baggies for the homeless that we put together. We put together 30 bags. So that was really good! I'm also personally crocheting hats/scarves and maybe gloves for the homeless for the next coming winter season. So far I have 4 hats done. Need to get some more finished. Goal is 2012 items and am putting together a group at Church of others who may be interested to help :)
