Brandy Murry and I have decided to challenge each other with Jillian Michaels' 30-day Shred DVD program again. We pushed ourselves through the program last summer with the help of a nice Scrap Girls support system. Accountability is key!

If anybody else wants to take the 30-Day Shred Challenge with us, we'd love to have you join in!!

Great! Glad to have you join :) Once we have a few interested participants, we'll put together a list and choose the official starting date.


I used this DVD last night, which is what reminded me of the 30-Day Shred Challenge from last year. By the end of the 30 days last year, I was able to make it through the Level 3 workouts....last night I could barely do Level 1! How quickly my body reverted back to it's weakling out-of-shape status.

Me too..I'm scared! LOL At the end of 30 days last time I was so much stronger..I was whippin through those levels.

What is really good for me is that once I give ya'll my promise, I know I can't (& won't) make excuses for not doing it. So I'm committed to you girls! Bring on the sweat!

Sara I got mine from Amazon, but I think someone said (Jennifer I think)that Target sold it too.

ugh...ugh...ugh...I really can't believe i'm going to do this but i'm in. :shycouch: With it gettting warmer out I need to add a little something more to my workout, being i'm not walking 5 miles a day in 90+ weather. And while I love my Bowflex, I need a little variety.

I'll look this week to see if they have it at WalMart, if not i'll have to order it at Amazon.

Since most of you have done it before, tell me, is it very strenous on the knees? I have a torn meniscus which is why I do the water aerobics. I'm ready to pick up my weights again ... while I would love to add to the H20 Aerobics, will this kill my knee??

Lei....only the jumping jacks but they are too long. YOu can do whatever program you want. The good thing about the shred it that it's only 20 minutes.

Ok..my husband just called and he picked it up for me. Actually he first complained that he knows why they call it the 30 day shred "because I had to walk around Target for 30 days looking for it" LOL he first started in the video department, then figured it would be back with the fitness stuff. As he said "that's on the other side of the store" He finally did find it, and of course his biggest complaint "you know what, you can't go in and just buy a fitness video and also pick up a bag of M&M's" So after all of that, he had to leave without his candy. LOL

But i'm all set and excited to start!

Lei: The hardest parts might be the jumping jacks or the jump rope, but you could probably just walk in place if you need to, which is what I sometimes do. Just as long as you keep moving to keep the heart rate up.

Basically here is how the DVDs are arranged:
3 levels, increasing in difficulty.
Each level has a 2-minute warm up, three 6-min circuits (which include 3-min strength, 2-min cardio, and 1-min abs), and then a 2-minute cool down.

She has a high-intensity assistant, and a modified lower-intensity assistant. I'm usually somewhere in between.


These are pretty easy to modify for your own fitness level and situation. Except I always feel guilty when Jillian yells at me ;) "It's only 20 minutes, so push yourself!"



Angie...your story about hubby makes me laugh!! At our Target, the fitness section is directly across from the junk food aisles, so it's very tempting.

Ok - so I think I might be able to adapt with the knees - I do have a rebounder so I can have it ready on the side to jump onto when we get to jump rope or jumping jacks if the knees talk to me! When are you going to start this? I need to go find/buy the dvd ... give me a starting day?? Tiza - does this mean we are doing this in Youngstown???? or do you take weekend breaks??

I don't know a starting date yet. Maybe next week? For Youngstown...maybe if I take a break for those couple days, I'll tack on a couple extra days at the end of the 30.

You only need to keep up with yourself. Work at your own pace. If you have to stick with low-intensity Level 1 workouts for the whole 30 days, go for it! It you want to push yourself to try Level 2 or 3, great!

Funny Belle! Actually you can do whatever exercise you want as long as it is for at least 20 minutes each day for 30 days. It's not easy, but worth the results.

Sara, you can do it..just don't give up..just 20 minutes. (I keep telling myself that over and over...lol)
