Sara, you mentioned how going out to eat is hard. I found a website that lists a lot of restaurants that aren't listed on the WW site. You will find a listing on the left side of the home page that will take you to the WW guide. I found Olive Garden on there, and a few others, that have helped me.

WW Restaurant Guide

Thanks, Joyce! That's great to know! I did find several restaurants there that I like! Last night we went to Applebee's - mainly so we could visit with our son, Brian, who's a bartender there part time, and I do like their 550 calorie menu - I don't like the whole wheat pasta dish they offer but they have several other dishes that I do like. Applebee's has actual WW dishes and I can almost always find something there that I want. And the big plus is that I get to sit at the bar and chat with my DS! My downfall is that I'm a huge diet soda drinker and I know that they aren't really good for me, but I drink them anyway! LOL

The Applebee's near us closed. :monstercry: :monstercry:

I re-opened my WW online account. Now I have to figure out these new point values! I hope they have an Android app too...

Thank you all for the inspiration!

Yay! So glad you joined "the group!" It's fun to encourage one another.

Thanks, Joyce! That will be helpful! I looked around the site and it looks good.

Last night I spent some time looking for a food value not listed at WW and finally went to the restuarant's official site, where they did list "nutritional" values. Picture air quotes for "nutritional." I was at Red Robin and had saved points for a 'Shroom Burger. I didn't pre-plan like you ladies, but did know that I had enough points for one. HOWEVER, it came in at a whopping 25 points! It had 56 grams of fat. Oh, my. I held the fries and drank water, so I didn't go over points allowances, but still. I think I am done with those. I want to make better choices and not waste all my points on something like that. It was both a shocker and good for me to see that fat grams number, and to take my head out of the sand (true confessions today.)

FYI...I searched the Android Market for Weight Watchers and WW, Int'l has a free app - but you must log in with your WW online credentials, so if you're "unofficial" it won't work. There are other paid apps out there. The WW app only allows you to calculate points for foods and activities, like the mini calculator - but that's one less gadget in my purse. I'd have liked to have the full Plan Manager on my phone so I could record on the go! Oh well, I do have a small notebook I carry for notes, so it can do double-duty while I'm out-and-about.

Also, I saw some posts about weigh-in days. You can change your weigh-in day in the Settings area - it's a button on the top right of the Plan Manager window - I'm currently on Wednesday.

I'm "living it up" this weekend - visiting relatives 1.5 hours north of here and our favorite Chinese food buffet. Grocery shopping tomorrow for good stuff...and ready to go Monday!

Good info! I downloaded the WW app to my iPad2 and, as you found, it is a little less than satisfactory. Oh, well. At least you are carrying a notebook and that's a great idea I am going to try. It's silly to try to rely on my memory..... too easy to fool myself.

Enjoy your Chinese buffet. You should be able to load up on veggies there. Good Luck on Monday!

Grocery store....just read that we should fill our carts with lots of different colors...veggies and fruit. Good idea, isn't it? I tend to pick up the same things over and over. Gotta make it interesting.

Oh, yes, colors, colors, colors! I've been kind of over the top in buying green, red, and yellow peppers, zucchini, broccoli, carrots and anything else I can find to add to most all of our meals when possible and cutting back on whatever the meat I'm using is. It's not only more filling, but it's healthier and although a little more expensive, I feel alot better about the meals I'm fixing. I'm such a veggie nut anyway and have pretty much turned Rich into one too! (Although he still wants his steak!)

I don't write anything down - the guilt in my head is enough to test me right now! I probably should be writing it down though - another way of accountability.

I am so glad you started this thread again, Dot - it's really made a difference!

Oh my, Sara, I have to keep track of everything that goes in my mouth. Otherwise I seem to end up kidding myself about what I had, and go over. Dot, my hubby likes Arby's BLT's. You wouldn't believe how high in points their sandwiches are. Some things can really fool you. I'm not surprised that a Red Robin burger is high in points. They are yummy though.

Dot, I realize you didn't plan ahead, so water under the bridge and you managed to stay in points. I'm playing with the WW tools and decided to see if Red Robin had some advanced tools...and they do! So for the original burger you had 25 points. I did the following:

  • Changed beef to Garden Burger
  • Removed bun

Taking the nutrition info from the customizer and plugging in to WW calculator, it's 14 points! Reminder to me, if we're going out to a place that allows me to customize my meal, I'm checking their website so I can pick my substitutions before I go!

Thank you for sharing!

Great idea. I'll have to remember that. It will come in handy when someone else chooses the restaurant.

I do alot of that kidding myself, Joyce. I probably should start writing everything down. If I saw it on paper, I would see how it all really adds up in a day.

I'm bad about not eating anything for breakfast in the morning, and sometimes I skip lunch too, which basically just means that by 2pm I'm starving and will usually snack on the wrong thing for certain. I have to have supper around 7pm (dh's work schedule and.....) cause we find that if we eat a little bit later that we aren't as apt to snack the night away in front of the tv. I'm not as big a snacker as Rich is, but I do get hungry around 9-9:30 pm if we have supper too early.

And as far as having a burger goes, that's just something I really only eat maybe once every three months or so - I've really almost given up bread entirely. It's just more than I can eat, which is really very helpful as far as weight watching goes. I do like a good BLT made at home every once in a great while and I will, of course, eat that as a sandwich.

I'm trying - not always easy though, is it girls?
