So, how was your weekend? Any successes to report? Any temporary missteps to confess (only if it will help you, though.) I'll start.

I went to DGS's birthday party. I looked at the cake and decided to see if I wanted to use points on it. I took a tiny, tiny bite and didn't really like it all that much. In the past I would still have eaten it, but this time passed on it. SUCCESS #1. Stayed within points for the whole day. They had pizza delivered and had it cut into child sized slices, so two slices was the equivalent of one normal slice. Lesson learned.... it didn't really fool me, but it didn't hurt, either. So, 5 points for "two" slices of pizza, and it did force me to eat it more slowly. SUCCESS #2. Today, I (in my opinion, now) I wasted four points on 14 potato chips. They weren't even very good. But, I made the decision to eat them, counted them and will do better next time.

So, all in all, I think it is going well. Just being more aware and eating more consciously each day is a SUCCESS. Also, my weight is down 2.6 lbs since I signed up last Monday. So, I eliminated 9100 calories from my diet this week. My goal is the 500 calories/day or 3500 calories/week for the one pound weight loss/week. Reasonable when we hear it that way, don't you think?

WE CAN DO IT!

WOO-HOO! Dot! WTG!

Your successes are fabulous!

I have a huge bump in the road to report. Yesterday when I went to the grocery store I bought a small bag of Maple Nut Goodies and I ate 10 of them. :embarrassed003:

BUT, I felt terrible after I ate them. I was so angry with myself so I threw the rest of them away.

Success-wise though, all of our meals have been very healthy ones and I feel very good about that.

I'm determined to drop 7 pounds before the summer is over. I wish I had realized how sitting in this recliner while my ribs healed was going to affect me. I never even gave it a thought and those pounds sneaked up on me so fast.

WE CAN DO IT! TOGETHER!

Way to go, Dot. I know you can do it, and the rewards are so great. When I got dressed for Church Sunday DH asked me if my outfit was new. "No, I just haven't been able to wear it for a couple of years." It's like having a new wardrobe. Sara, I can relate to your story about the Goodies, and that is exactly the reason I have to record everything. I am good at that impulse eating. It is definitely my downfall.

Good job, ladies! Dot, I can relate to eating things you may not really like - WTG in not eating that cake. Sara, at least you got rid of the rest of your temptation and didn't let it derail you in any other way. Ah Joyce, I'm looking forward to the day when I can pull out clothes I've not worn for a long time (or ever - some still have tags on them!) - Congrats for shopping in your own closet for a smaller size.

I just started yesterday and my weigh in day is tomorrow...no real news to report, I stayed on program but I ended up having 13 points available in the evening. So I went through the pantry and found some microwave popcorn - 11 points for the whole bag. DH helped eat it, but I counted the whole thing, writing off the extra points as fudge factor. Portion control is my downfall - I don't want 1 oz of Pringles, I want the *whole can*. So anytime I can have a mass of points to use up at the end of the day might be a good thing.

Had to search the storage room for the scale. I've been using the Wii fit as a scale (not doing anything on it, just weighing) but that's a pain to pull out on a working day to weigh in. Found the scale and it's in my office now so I'm all ready for tomorrow (I think).

Here's to the small successes that build up to *great* successes!

Well, I started gung-ho a week or so ago and the next morning promptly woke up with strep throat and blew it all. LOL However, I did manage to weigh in half a pound less last Friday morning and so far have kept it off. Looks like baby steps this week, but I'm getting back to it.

I'm signing on for the new 30-day Shred Challenge, too. It begins tomorrow and that's more accountability for me. I'm going to do walking and use hubby's stationary bike, so we'll see how it goes!

Becky, I hope you've recovered from your strep. GL on the 30-shred challenge! I'm on doing a challenge at work, so one is enough for me, LOL.

WOW, now THAT IS SUCCESS! WTG, Joyce. I look forward to going down a size and see that as a major milestone. Pretty great that your sweet DH noticed, too, BTW!

Impulse eating... I think we all know that urge. At least you have identified it as a downfall. Step #1! Success! Keep up the good work! You're an inspirations to others of us now. You persisted. I am sure you had little slips, but you didn't let that cause you to give up!

I still try to remember.....

"If hunger is not the problem, then food is not the solution." I like that one.

Oh, we've all been there. So, focus on the positive changes you've made, and it sounds as if there are many, and don't beat yourself up over Maple Nut Goodies. Let's just say that you ONLY ate 10. Give yourself CREDIT for not eating the whole bag. SUCCESS! And, next time you probably will remember how you felt and not buy them.

Sometimes we just want something, don't you think? If we want it and think about it and DECIDE to go ahead and have it, then ENJOY it, I say LOL!

And, give yourself a big pat on the back for working on removing the gained weight....you've had a rough year with injuries. SUCCESS for not letting it get further ahead of you. It's all good!

So, today I went to the grocery store and the Strawberry pies/cakes/shortcakes were placed at the entrance. Walked past those, but the fresh loaves of English Muffin Bread stopped me. Now, I could have purchased it IF I thought I could control my portions, but I know myself well enough to know that I probably can't. DH is away and I could eat the entire loaf and no one would ever know, right?

While I stood there contemplating the purchase, who walked by but my cardiologist?!!

Didn't Ro just talk about recognizing minor miracles when they occur? Yep, I saw him and remembered what I am trying to do, and walked off without the bread! LOL, it wasn't easy, but it will be worth it!!

Wow, Dot. I have to say that bread sounded good. When we go grocery shopping every other week I buy one package of cinnamon raisin english muffins. That is two breakfasts for us. I use the WW low fat cream cheese on them, so 1/2 muffins and 1 small tub of the cream cheese makes an 8 point breakfast. If I pay attention the rest of the day I still manage to stay within my points.

Oh, that sounds yummy! I had forgotten that I like the WW cream cheese. Thanks for the reminder and great breakfast suggestion! Throw in a Keurig coffee and that is a perfect breakfast!

Woo-Hoo, Joyce - being able to wear something that's gotten a little too snug is such a joy and a surprise! That's pretty much the way I gauge how I gain or lose weight - and I have two sizes in my closet right now - the ones I should be wearing and the ones I am wearing! Funny how good it feels to just know we can wear that one smaller size, isn't it?

Now, THAT is a little miracle happening, Dot! LOL Perfect example of one of those "God Winks" moments I think!

The day I bought the candy I bought, I must have walked by my favorite Maple Nut Goodies two or three times and I actually went back after I had finished loading my cart and got the #@$%#@ things! I should have been stronger! But you said something earlier about how something you really weren't supposed to be eating didn't taste all that good anyway and that's exactly how I felt when I ate those 10 pieces of candy - they just weren't as yummy as I remembered........I kept eating another piece cause I thought maybe the next piece would taste good. I guess that was my conscience kicking in and telling me NO!

Good for you for passing up the bread! I find that if I stay completely away from bread that I lose quickly - and I talk myself into the fact that if I do eat the bread that it's going to fill me up and make me feel terrible and now, honestly I just do not want the bread at all.

Everything happens for a reason. I guess seeing your cardiologist helped you make a decision :-). Every small victory adds up!

I'm trying to get better at freezing things like bread in small sections so I can buy it without throwing it away and extending the time I have to eat it. My mantra is "as long as it fits in my points."

Today is my weigh in day. I'm down 1 pound - actually since Saturday as I recorded my current weight when I re-joined.

It feels weird eating all the fruit and having no points to record (I do record the fruit in the online journal).

Wishing weekly success to everyone reporting here!

Oh, my gosh, oh my gosh! I guess the maple nut goodies didn't do too much damage - I can get into my old Levi's again! Wouldn't wear them out just yet - little tiny bit tight, but I can wear them! Woo-Hoo!

Hi Ladies - I just found this thread and was thrilled!!! I've "fallen off the wagon" over the past few weeks. I had lost 25# and kept if off for 2 years and at least felt pretty good that I had kept if off. Then over the past few weeks I've had trouble keeping focused and have given in to eating way more than I need! I've done WW and other programs so I do know what I should to. Anyway - off to a better start this week. Eating closer to my points and walked 2 miles today!! I've switched from ice cream to fruit and yogurt for my evening snacks. My goal is to have my slacks get too big!

We've all made it through Wednesday - we can do it!!!

Oooh, I like the way you think! Great goal!! And, congrats on keeeping the weight off for two years. That is a HUGE accomplishment of which you should feel proud! Good to hear that you are off to another positive start before things get away from you. Go Sharon!!! :2468who-do-we-appreciate:

Oh, my gosh, oh my gosh! I guess the maple nut goodies didn't do too much damage - I can get into my old Levi's again! Wouldn't wear them out just yet - little tiny bit tight, but I can wear them! Woo-Hoo!

:party-smiley-048: YAY, Sara! WTG!

I have to have sour cream on mine, but I buy the low fat version. And most salsa doesn't have points.
