Since alot of us have thought about doing another 30 day challenge, but we need a bit of a break, I thought I would start this thread until the next one starts. I thought this would be a great place to check, and tell what we've done for the day if anything (I know that helps keeps me motivated) Maybe talk about what workouts we're going to try next, and just general encouragement.

I think I told you all I have a new walking pal in the mornings. We walk Mon-Thur and then on the weekends I walk with my mom. It helps having that other person there saying "lets go" especially now when it's hot. I got in the habit when it was cooler, of getting the boys up, answering emails, then heading out about 10. Which is fine until the high for the day is 95 and it's already almost there by that time. So we meet at 6:30 every morning and head out for our 5 mile walk. So i'm excited to be back to a regular routine with that.

I didn't workout yesterday, as once I got back I was sick so I just lounged. But after I run to the store i'll be doing it again tonight. I want to keep in the habit of doing it at least 6 days a week, maybe with 1 break.

Yesterday was weigh in and I lost another 4.8lbs. As of this morning i'm 2 lbs from the 70 mark. I will be so happy to be there, that is my official 1/2 way point to what I would love to lose. So the goal seems a little more attainable then it was in Jan. Then of course I would love, love to lose another 40 after that and be back to my high school weight...but that's a dream i'll think about after I hit the first mark. LOL

Go you!!!

I did the stationary bike this afternoon for two miles and then the right pedal fell off. :hit-head-with-hammer: So I used the rest of my pre-programmed playlist for a modified Leslie Sansome walk.

Apparently this isn't the first time the pedal has come off, I was a bit relieved to hear that. :P

I am taking a blissful break from working out today:) Perhaps we'll take a walk later (short, and with the kids, so not really exercise).

Yeah...the way I figure it, it didn't appear overnight so it's not coming off overnight either (no matter how hard I wish it would...lol)

Angie, you really are doing it the right way - it just seems as if it appears overnight sometimes! :disappearing-smilie: But of course, then reality sets in and we know it really didn't - so we struggle and struggle with it and let's face it - LOSING it is alot HARDER than gaining it!

You're doing a great job, Angie!

I did my stationary bike for 35 minutes this morning and did my usual sit-ups which really bore me to death but it's all I can do for the rest of this week and then NEXT week I think I can slowly build back up to my normal jogging pace. I sure miss it - it clears my head!

GO ANGIE! I love hearing about your successes!

Congratulations, Angie!! And thank you for starting this thread. After I took Buddy for a walk, I wanted to post on the shred thread, but it's over:(.

I ordered those 3 DVD's you mentioned in the other thread and will look for the white cover Biggest Loser at Target when I go there. Once the girls are out of school, our walks will be few and far between....I really plan to take the next session seriously with healthy eating and tracking my progress.

So proud of you Angie! I'm taking a little break while I wait for the video you suggested. Then we can get back up and running. Maybe a 6 Day workout week isn't such a bad idea.

How great is that Angie!! Woo hoo! I didn't do anything today but have worked out for the last two days. Zoomba on Monday and Jillian's Metabolism DVD yesterday. I am now 27 lbs down! I am just glad it is coming off consistently and slowly but surely!! I have 20 more lbs to take off myself. Eating much healthier has been a big help too!

I missed this thread yesterday - glad to find it this morning. Yesterday was crazy busy for me. With no car, my sil took me to work when she went - the problem was she dropped me off at 7:30 AM and I didn't have to be to work until 10:00 AND I had a board meeting last night so I worked until 7:30 PM!! It was so busy I took no breaks and ate lunch at my desk. I did however stop when DH came at 4:00 and we went over to pick up the rental - I now have wheels until mine gets fixed!! So, call me a bum for yesterday, exercise (brain was over taxed though - does that count!?) :)

I'm planning on keeping at this as well and I do like the 6 day plan. Angie you are really inspiring me - you are doing amazing!! WOW 70 pounds - how great!! It would be wonderful if I could follow in your footsteps.

Dianne - have you looked into Leslie Sansone's Walk Away The Pounds? It is a nice low impact workout that can be done rain or shine!!

Off to pop in her (Leslie's) Walk Strong dvd for 2 miles.

You gals are doing so great! I would love to try Zoomba. We have a place here in town that does it several days a week, my problem is i'm so uncoordinated i'm afraid i'd make a big fool out of myself. LOL But I know there are some Zoomba video's out there, i've thought of getting one of those. That way it's only the dogs that get a good laugh until I get the steps down

I did Zoomba before I hurt my ankle, Angie and I have to tell you that I felt a little silly in the class! Everyone had been in the class for awhile and knew all of the routines and stuff and there was me - feeling so uncoordinated as you said. But I did figure it out and it was alot of fun once I got going.

My granddaughter is now a Zoomba instructor and I just love watching her - but she's also 19 years old and has more energy than I ever remember having!

Ladies, it depends on the instructor if it's for you or not. I have had different instructors when my regular one was on vacation. I totally didn't like the subs as much as the one I was used too. I actually do the Zoomba Hip Hop (toning) at our gym, it incorporates the weights. I love it, it really kicks my butt. Now just the one that was all dancing was to fast paced for me and I didn't sweat nearly as much as I did in the toning class. It was awkward at first but I just stuck it out, you get to the place where you know the steps that are coming next, except when they bring in new songs of course. I have the Zoomba for the WII also, it makes me sweat too but I miss the weights when I do that one at home. It's hard to go ahead and use the weights at home because of the fast paced dancing. The toning class picks songs that are not as fast as the Latin beat songs for strictly dancing classes. That's how it is around here anyway. Some gyms have a Zoomba Gold also for the older ladies, but I think they are hard to find. Now when I had to miss for 2 and 1/2 wks. I didn't want to lose my momentum so I borrowed my daughters Jillian Micheals workout DVD, I am hooked on that now. I noticed I was losing a little more weight in those two weeks than I had been with Zoomba. So I am guessing however she put that workout together really burns the fat, just like the title says. "Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism"!

Hey ladies, I just got this in my daily email from Jillian Michaels

"Ever hear the expression "Nothing changes if nothing changes"? If you do the same resistance routine the same way week after week, the day will come when your body will have adapted to that particular workload. In terms of weight loss, that's not a good thing. If your body isn't challenged beyond its comfort zone, you won't see continual results.
Get out of your comfort zone " So that may be the answer to the why some are not losing much anymore if you haven't changed up your workout at all....

I've noticed that in my life. For the longest time I walked, and was walking 5 miles a day (or more) faithfully...but then got to a standstill in the weight loss. But when I put some cardio in there (as little as 20 min) and maybe cut the walking back to 4 miles a day it started coming off again. I think the key is variety and mixing it up a bit.

I got my 3 miles in today, had to cut it short due to the rain. But i'll be working out with Bob here in a bit!

Thanks for starting this thread. Congratulations on reaching your goals, Angie. That is super terrific! I love hearing about your success. It motivates me to get moving too.

I love having a check in thread to keep me accountable. Having a place to say "I did it!" is rewarding. My goal is the walk/run 3 - 5 days a week. I haven't been exercising since I went on vacation, and I need to get back to it.

Buddy and I walked again today. Then I spread mulch in the front flower bed for 30 minutes. My wrists are sore tonight for some reason. Tomorrow will be an off day for me. I have to help out at the school's field day and then grocery shopping. I'll probably be more tired from school than if I had worked out!!

Can I join back in here? I've been absent for too long!

It's only 7:30am here and the humidity is bad today! So I probably won't be doing much of anything outside today, but I've been good this week so far. We did a lot of walking on Monday at a botanical gardens. On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, I worked on adding more running to my walks.

I haven't weighed myself lately, so I'm not sure where I am with that. I doubt I've gained anything, but I also doubt I've lost anything in the last month or so. My next goal is a total 50-lb lost by October 23rd... the day my brother-in-law is hosting a 5K run for PKU awareness in honor of my daughter.

Hopefully, checking in here regularly will keep me motivated again! I've missed you guys!

I've been keeping up pretty much with my stationary bike riding and my sit-ups - I'm targeting trouble spots where I need to lose and just trying to tighten things up a bit. As long as I do my exercises four-five times a week, I feel great about it all.........and I don't worry if I miss a day - I just do extra the next day! Going to start back my jogging on Monday though - my ankle feels great!

I know why i've felt so blah the last few days...I haven't done much. Thursday I got a short walk in, but then it rained and I had to head home. Yesterday nothing..today I was tired and sluggish. So after I finished the house work I threw in my DVD and did 20 min of cardio..I feel so much better! I've gotta remember that after workout feeling the next time I don't want to do anything!

You know, Ang, I've been dealing with the same thing. I have not gotten my regular h2o areobics in because of the vehicle situation, but that is gonna start again on Monday. I also found I was nibbling a little more sugar than should - little/no exercise + sugar = sluggish Leila! NO MORE!!
