Got my 5 miles in yesterday. I have to tell you it was a lazy day yesterday (some medicine I'm taking just knocks me out and all I want to do is sleep) I finally got up and was just going to take a short mile walk. Well right after I started this car pulls up next to me, it's this guy I went to high school with that I see from time to time. He goes "what ever your doing don't stop. I can tell you've lost a ton of weight..you look good" Well if that's not the motivation to go the whole 5 miles i'm not sure what it. LOL

Oh, that's the BEST kind of encouragement, Angie! You go, girl! So proud of you!

Oh wow Angie that's such a motivation kicker!! Problem for me is that all the people I went to school with haven't really seen me since I put on the weight!! But at least a friend in St. Louis hadn't seen me since I started losing in Feb and when he saw me after 25 lbs were gone, he couldn't believe it. I had only been going up, up, up for the last 12 years. This is the first year I have gotten this serious and stuck with it. I am lovin the new old me!!

Latest I've done a workout in the evening...Chalene's Extreme Abs.
When I first did this video in maybe early April, I could only hold one of the moves for about half the time she wanted us to. (down on elbows, up on toes, and hold abdomen off the ground). Tonight, thanks to Jillian's 30 day shred last month, I could have held the pose LONGER than Chalene does on the video. Woot, abs, here I come! :)

So I know you all will like this. I'm getting the boys in shape for football (they've done really good lost 10 lbs since school is out) We are slowly working up to being able to job a mile, and working on cardio by doing the biggest loser video every night. The rule is as soon as summer school is over they have to do that, then they can go out and play. So last night I was mowing grass when they got home so they took off. About an hour later I went looking for them, telling them it was time to work out. They both moaned and groaned and wasn't happy about being torn away from their friends. The next thing I know all their friends were asking if they could come. 5 min later they were all rounded up and myself, my two boys and 6 other neighbor kids all worked out to the biggest loser video.

The funny thing is about 15min into it Gary got home. You should of saw the look on his face when he walked in. He just shook his head and walked on..lol

Oh Angie how funny is that!! My 15 yr old son is very disciplined about working out and all. He lifts weights and does some running. But he was in wrestling for two years so generally wrestlers are very disciplined. But I am glad he is continuing to take care of himself, hopefully taking it into his adult life in a few years. My 11 & 9 yr old DD's love to Zoomba on the WII and generally will try to work out with me when they are around while Jillian leads the way! ha ha
My husband and I weighed in this morning and I have lost 31 lbs now!! Woo Hoo, I am just thrilled!! Posted Image I went to the store later in the day and resisted the urge to grab something sweet to celebrate. I figured I would buy myself a new pair of pants instead!!

Now I can't hold the book to read to my 2-year old...it's a small paperback. LOL. That's how bad my arms are still shaking.

Angie,
Next time, tell Gary to grab the camera! I loved your Designer's Life article this morning!

Patsy,
Congrats on the 31 pounds!! You go, girl!

LOL... Cheri, just think of how awesome those arms are going to look! :)

--

I ran 3.2 miles this morning. One week from today, I'll be running in my first 5K. Still a little worried that I'll be the only "fat girl" there and that I'll end up finishing last, but I am going to do this... no matter what.

You go Becca! That is my secret goal for next year (guess it's not much of a secret now) But we'll have to see. Right now i'm living by the rule of once you hit 40 you should never have to run again...lol!

Didn't get my walk in this am it was too stormy here. Now it's starting to clear up and i'm afraid it's going to be humid out. I think i'll try the treadmill some and do a few video's.

Question...has anyone used a bosu balance trainer? I saw one at Target this weekend and it look really cool. Not sure if I want to part with the $100 that it cost...but it looked like it would be alot of fun and really good for the core strength.

Another question...does anyone have the Zumba video's? I went to a class last week, it was fun but I felt so lost trying to keep up with the routines. So i'm thinking of getting a set of video's for home. I see they have their first series, then a new exhilarate series. Of course you read that the new ones are better..but is that just because they are new or really that much better? Hmm..guess i'll have to do some research on that one.

Have a great day and week everyone!

I have a Zumba video, Angie - I felt very out of place in the class so decided to do it at home where I could keep up with myself! LOL And to make it worse, my Granddaughter, Sara, teaches Zumba at Murray State in KY, and I feel as if I should be able to keep up in class! But, she's also 19 years old! I really like doing Zumba at home. Mine is the first set of Zumba

Congratulations on your successes - it warms my heart to hear about it!

Dh and I started to watch what we eat yesterday and I started to work out today. I did the Biggest Loser Cardio Max with Bob and although I struggled through some of it, it was fun. He's a great motivator! Definitely like him better than Jillian, lol! And good grief did I sweat!

That's my thought Sara...plus if I do it at home, i'm more likely to really "move" instead of semi move because I'm afraid there's other staring and laughing. Here it's just the dogs...and I know they won't laugh to much or they won't get fed. LOL

I was all excited my new video's I ordered last week came today. I did one of the deals with Amazon where you buy a bundle of 3 for cheaper. I got Cardio Max (the new one...I also have the original one) The Workout 2, Boot Camp and Power Sculpt. I did 40 min from The Workout and 40 from Cardio Max today, along with a 3 mile walk (it got WAY hot/humid after the storms this morning) and really enjoyed it. Even though the moves were similar to some other video's it was fun doing them in different combinations and with different people.

Whew you ladies are making me sweat reading your posts!! I admire all of you!! I was a bum all weekend. Friday because of sleeping issues I did not make it to the pool. I took a little walk with the dogs Sat and Sun was lazy. Today I did get to the pool for my 60 min workout and I have promised myself to not miss Wed or Fri. I also need to get a serious schedule going for Tues Thurs. I'm sort of in a funk - I hate when I get like this because I seem to undo all I've done. I wish you could bottle and ship to me whatever it is that is keeping you going Ang - I'm so impressed with your success!! I'm going to TRY to get back into my weights routine tomorrow and Thurs and Sat. .... it is a start.

My girlfriend has the Zumba videos but I haven't got to try them yet. I was lost when I first started the classes, but when you go three times a week consistently it really doesn't take long to start knowing what comes next. Plus our trainer is great, she uses non-verbal and verbal cues constantly. Due to some teenager problems, (bummer) I didn't get to go to class this morning but I did my Jillian workout and was dripping when done!! 45 mins of cardio does the trick to keep that metabolism going! Some day I am planning to run again. I haven't ran in over thirteen years due to knee injuries but they are getting stronger all the time. Hopefully next year I will be able to say I ran a 5k too!!

You know...my trick that I started back in Jan and really works for me is I get up and get dressed, ready to work out, before I leave the bedroom. Working from home it's really easy to fall into the trap of not getting dressed until I had to go get the boys from school, and when your in your pj's it's hard to be motivated. But when i'm ready to go before I walk out of the bedroom it's hard to make excuses. The other thing is I have a partner for everything. Walking 4 days a week I go with a friend, the other 3 my mom is off and we go. Then me and the boys work out every night...so any other cardio I do during the day is "extra" So that makes it a little harder for me to let it slide.

The buddy system is sure working well for you Angie! I don't have an IRL buddy system, so that's why I love these check-in threads (and the 30 day shred challenge) b/c I feel somewhat more accountable when I feel you're all waiting for me to post (lol). William and Michael will sometimes still work out for a few minutes with me at the beginning. I have to be careful of the language on the tape. Luckily they did not pick up on a not-so-good word Jillian used to refer to the back-side. However, William (2 years) latched onto Chalene saying "booty" tonight and kept chanting it. lol

Chalene's Burn It Off done today!

Speaking of buddy system, I have a buddy to walk with today!

My neighbor has seen me out walking or running since she's been back from Florida, and she sent me a message asking me if she could come along next time. So today, we have our first "date" for a 2-mile walk.

I do what Angie does, too. While I don't get dressed in workout clothing immediately from waking up - coffee MUST come first - I do put them on as soon as I get my coffee in me and the kids' breakfast taken care of. I've learned that if I wait - say, plan an after-dinner walk instead - that something will come up or I won't feel like it, and I make excuses. But if I exercise first thing in the day, it's done and over with and I don't have to worry about it the rest of the day. That way, if we do take an after-dinner walk, it's just a bonus workout for the day.

I agree, Angie! It's so much nicer doing it at home without worrying about those very fit, very buff ladies who never miss a move, or a step, and seem to have it down pat watching me - and they probably are not even giving me a thought at all! LOL LOL Everyone I saw in the Zumba class seemed to be skinny and have perfect bodies - it was a little intimidating! And they were all pretty young too! I guess that's part of how they stay that way, but have you noticed that the generation - the ones who are in their 20s and 30s seem to all be just totally built differently and appear to just be plain skinny without trying? LOL I'm sure it just appears that way, but I swear they have one up on all of us somehow!

Have fun Zuuuuuuuuummmmmmbaaaaing at home! It's a blast. I also have a music cd that I just kind of dance to - it really keeps me hopping and I love the songs on it. It has "Gloria", "Dancing on the Ceiling", "Shake Your Groove Thing" "What a Feeling" and lots of other really happy music that makes me just plain want to move with them. It's a cd I play while I'm cleaning house too and it's always, always inspired me to keep moving!

You're just doing a great job and I am so proud of you! Gosh, soon, you will be a skinny mini like the girls in my Zumba class were! :) :)

Becca, you're doing great! I don't get dressed right away though - I ride my stationary bike after my first cup of coffee in my pj's and then do my situps. If I get dressed, then I'm not going to do it! All in my head, I guess.

Later in the day, after all is said and done in our house, then we go walk. But I have to say that Rich is much better at being dedicated to that long walk up the hill than I am - he takes the dog and goes several times a day.......and our hill is a tough one to walk - once up and back on our street is a mile and we always laugh and say that going up should be multiplied by three cause it's a steep climb!

Had my weekly Tuesday weigh-in, and the good news is...I am still at the same weight I was a couple weeks ago when I stopped working out. Yay I didn't gain any weight this month! So hopefully that means once I get myself back on track and exercising regularly, my weight will start to go down.

I am so sore today! So I did a 20 minute Chalean ab workout to stretch all those areas that are sore. And, the topsoil finally came, so I'll be busy hauling dirt to the backyard.

I agree with Angie, I get dressed before leaving my room or it doesn't get done. When the kids are in school, I get dressed before we go out to the bus. I don't have time to work out before the bus comes anyway. I don't have a buddy, except dh, but we never work out at the same time except those rare weekends.

I guess I could always set my alarm for 4:30am, so I have time to walk/workout before I have to get ready for work.... but I need to be showered, dressed, made up, fed, and out at the bus stop by 6:15am.

And then I make a LOT of excuses in the evenings when I get home.
