I can already tell you that Wednesdays are going to be my worst days. I get up at 5:15am to get ready for work, have to catch the bus at 6:15am, work all day, go straight to my mom's house for dinner, then we go to the Muny (musical theater) in the evenings, and I usually get home around 11:30pm. I will probably make those my rest days, and workout on Sundays instead.

And ugh I just noticed that the last 4 days overlap with my vacation to California....hopefully my dad has enough nature walks planned for us that I can count them ;)

Can I already whine? My legs are so sore this morning! My plan for today is to walk 30 minutes while one of the girls are at ballet class this morning. I'll check in later today afterwards.

Edited to update...
I had a change of plans, since DH got called in to work this morning. In other words, no one to stay with one of my daughters while I walked during the other's ballet class and walking with DD doesn't get my heart rate up enough. So, I did Level 1 of Jillian's 30 Day Shred DVD this morning! I'm done for today! :)

Thanks, Theresa! That was my motto for yesterday - "Don't Be Last." I couldn't resist that shirt when I was out shopping on Saturday... purple and with my motto! I had to have it!

I finished 502nd out of 517 runners (official stats aren't posted yet). I was 24th in my age group. I wasn't last in either the overall or my age group, so I met my goal. The important things about yesterday were 1) I did it, 2) I learned something from the experience (don't start out in the front of the pack, if it's your first time), and 3) I've got a time to beat for the next 5K I'll be running in October.

The next one's quite a bit more important to me. Each year, my brother-in-law does a fundraiser to benefit PKU research. PKU (phenylketonuria) is the disorder my youngest daughter has. This year, he's starting a 5K community run that he hopes to continue for at least five years. For that particular event, my hubby and I will probably end up in the newspaper and on TV, so I've got to give that run everything I've got. :)

My check in today: I walked 1.93 miles in 35 minutes... :happy-sun: bright and early this morning before it got too hot! (and so I didn't have to dread it the rest of the day!)

I also got my starting weight.......... :wobbly-eyes: :on-soap-box: How did that happen? I think the number is a large as the national debt! This WILL change!

Okay ~ I'm guessing that you gals are committed to weight loss? and exercise? I NEED IN!! I'm already being lazy by asking, what's the scoop, instead of reading the thread.....whatever the deal is, I need to SHED pounds. I've managed to pile on almost 20 in the last year ~ UGH!!!! I need help :-)

Karis, here are the rules:

The rules:

  • You must exercise each day of the 30 challenge (6 Days per week- we are taking Sunday off this round) for at least 20 minutes. Feel free to use any video you have on hand (Jillian's 30 Day Shred, Chalean, etc) or you can do any exercise you like, DVD, walk, bike ride, swim or gym.
  • You must check in to the check in thread each day to get checked off and your progress charted.
  • If you miss a day you can make it up on Sunday, you just have to let me know you did it so I can make sure your chart is correct.
  • Feel free to moan and groan..we all do..LOL

PS..it is a good idea to weigh and measure yourself before you start so you can see your own progress. There is no need to share this with the group, it's just for your own benefit. It is always encouraging to see progress.


I'm sure Brandy can squeeze you onto the chart! :)

As much as I wanted to skip this.....Bob and the Biggest Losers sent me to Boot Camp for 30 minutes and then Chalean put me through a 20 minute ab workout. I'm sweaty and tired, but feel good! I weighed in yesterday and I'm only measuring my waist, and did that yesterday as well!

I"m DONE for today! I feel great! Tired but great. In fact before I go shower, I'm going to go finish mowing the lawn. I walked for 40 minutes in the rec park and campground that our house backs up too. I walked all the way to the end and back. I don't know how many miles it is but it took me 40 minutes.

Most days I'll be doing my exercise in the afternoon/evening when I get home from work.

Check in for today. I ran 1.5mi, with 2 kiddos riding their bikes with me! I'm not sure how long it took, I will have to see if I can increase my time, but I'm really more focused on running more than walking right now. My weight didn't change over the holiday - don't know how that happened though - And I'm getting those measurements recorded!

Did 25 minutes on the stationary bike (resistance 3 / 13 mph), and will do another round later or in the evening.

Workout..DONE! White through black belt forms, bagwork with kicks and strikes, recumbent bike, push ups and sit ups. Whew!
I hope to get to 60 pushups in 1 minute (I'm at 40 now) and 40 full sit ups in 1 minute (I'm at 25 now) by the end of the 30 days.
