Last night my husband was deleting text messages from his phone and asked if I wanted to save any from my daughter (his step-daughter). The light bulb went off! I had him keep them, I'm going to transcribe the messages and use them as journaling. As in many blended families, they got off to a rough start. Their text conversations are so precious to me now that she appreciates and loves him.

I'd love to hear of other ideas ya'll have used.

Blessings,
Gina

That is such a good idea, Gina! So, there is value in our texting! LOL (Really, I can't imagine life without it anymore)

Can't wait to see the layouts you do using the texts as journaling. Thanks for sharing your idea.

I think that is a great idea!

I saw a layout in the recent Scrapbooks Etc. magazine where someone put a Facebook post & comments on a layout.

Great idea. SMS from my granddaughter goes something like this. 'Ouma I love you' and 10 mins later, Ouma can you put time on my phone please?

Ouma did you remember to put time on my phone? Thank you Ouma. I get these once a month. :disappearing-smilie:

LOL ;) I can totally see the layout around these texts! Definitely featuring a picture of your granddaughter on the phone.

The first ever scrapbook layouts I did were from saved emails from places I'd been.
I would bring my laptop along and then send a brief email and a few photos to friends and family.
I never wanted to erase them until I found SG and digital scrapping and these were the first ones I did!
I already had the text and photos picked out, so it was a nice way to start, I got to delete the emails and I had printed 5x7 pages of my adventures!
I also had sent emails showing my work in a drawing and watercolor class, so I scrapped those also.

I love the text message idea too! :)

I saved all the texts my daughter sent me pre and post labour. She has scrapped them too. So funny to read later. Great idea though. Kay
