Digital Art Journaling

Recommended Posts

I'm into art journaling these days and wondered if Scrap Girls carried any products that could be used for either digital or hybrid? I've seen products elsewhere, but not a lot to choose from. Scrap Girls is my go to boutique but I haven't been able to find any specific kits, embellishments, papers, etc. I'm looking through product I have already purchased to see what can be used. I also don't like "dark" journaling...prefer uplifting, whimsical, light/bright colors, doodles, etc. Thanks!

I do a lot of digital art journaling and have used a lot of SG stuff, as well as a few things from other collections, freebies I've picked up here and there. SG papers and brushes are especially great. I don't think SG designates stuff specifically for art journaling but if there's a particular look you're after, you could always search on a keyword in the boutique (vintage, travel, etc).

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by digital art journaling either, but I love Ro's whimsical emoticons and there are some delightful embellies in her Country Life Collection

Look under designer's names in the boutique and click on Rozanne Paxman and look at all of her collections for starters - be sure you look at her doodles too - there are people ones, RV ones and some others and I've been working on her to design some more - she's a doodler and I love to journal my personal things with them. I'll try and come back and post links to some of her other things for you.

I do some digital art journaling and use a lot of the kits here. Search either for collage or vintage if that is the look you want. (I prefer light to dark myself by the way.) Altered Past is a good example. Look at some of the stitching embellishments and brushes too.

These are great value packs to get started:

These brushes go with them: http://store.scrapgirls.com/product/10599/Brush-Set%3A-Collage-Art-1

These are some dolls you can use as a starting point also http://store.scrapgirls.com/product/14248/ScrapSimple-Embellishment-Templates%3A-Fashion-Dolls-Super-Biggie

You might also think about what it is you want to journal about - there are kits about hobbies, or holidays you can incorporate.

Here are some doodle brushes:

And remember the paper templates are a terrific way to start "painting" your background! Have fun and experiment!

Wow! Thanks everyone so much!

After I posted yesterday, I spent a couple of hours going through my SG "stuff!" Freebies, kits, etc. and put together a nice mix of products to use. I'm new to the world of digital art journaling and today I remember WHY I want to do it digitally. You should see my kitchen table, counter, floor, bedroom, etc. To quote my husband, "How MUCH real estate do you really need when you do this??"

Unfortunately for him, I like to see EVERYTHING I have so that I can incorporate EVERYTHING (sadly). Takes a long time to create a couple of pages of journaling!

Again - thanks all for your help!
