I'm so ready to start today!

My shoulder appears to be all healed up now (finally!), so I'm going to start back up with ChaLEAN this morning. That program gave me the best results out of anything I've tried, and it's time to get serious again.

For my fellow ChaLEAN gals, I have a question... Do you use weights or resistance bands?

I'd really like to get back into this time using the bands, but I had a heck of a time figuring out how to do it the first go-round with ChaLEAN. Any tips?

I'm just doing Turbo Jam and i'm using the hand weights. I did look at Chalean Extreme today...figured I would give myself a month on Turbo Jam before I started making noise about wanting that one...but it's next on my list!

Monday, August 8, done. 1.2 miles on the treadmill in 32 minutes.

Almost forgot to post. Great chart, Angie--love the quote!

Is there anyway to get my "I'm Commited" badge back? I took it down because I felt if I wasn't doing the Shred I shouldn't have it up. I saved the image, but for some reason you need an url to post an image. Not sure how to go about that. :(

Just put in 31 minutes (6 miles) on the bike. Back into my routine.

Tomorrow I'll take official weight & inch measurements....but if my scale is correct tonight, it looks like I actually lost a pound on vacation!! :2468who-do-we-appreciate:

Check me off for today. I wore my pedometer and took the stairs at the hospital today. It is on that same hill I ran in heels a few weeks back. I clocked in 3.8 miles though. :D

Done for Monday! It was 10:30 pm, not 11:30 pm as feared, lol! Got virtually all the camping stuff put away except the tent. I'll have to see if I'm smart enough to put it up alone (never have put up a tent before) to rinse it out tomorrow. It's pretty sandy, muddy, and wet b/c it rained our second night out. We had a great time!

Anyway, I did Jillian's 6 Week 6 Pack level 1 tonight.

I did the bands for a couple days until my weights arrived. I am just more comfortable with weights, though I know people can get excellent results with the bands too. Weights brings me back to track in high school when we "lifted" 3 times a week. I liked it then and I like it now. Too bad I didn't keep up in between;) I will say I do not like some of the reviews I've seen for the Select Techs Bowflex weights Chalene uses. There are die-hards who won't use anything else, but there are many people I've heard who say they aren't well-constructed. I've been very happy with my Sport Block nested weights (I got mine from Amazon). I cheaped out and got the 6-25 # set (about $130), but really need to splurge at some point and get the up to 50# set. For squats, especially in the push month, I needed 30# (or more) and didn't have it. For the lean month you'll also probably need 3 or 5 # weights for posterior flies. I just bought those individually at Target. Check Craigslist and places like that too; you might be able to get a good deal on weights.

*huff*puff*huff*puff*

I made it. Just in the nick of time. It's 10:25 p.m. in my time zone on Monday night and I just got back from a 1.8 mile walk/run (30 minutes). I've been attempting the Couch to 5K program for the last few weeks but I made it up to week 4 day 1 and that broke me LOL. I struggled my way up to that point and I literally couldn't physically complete the requirements for that day's work out. I took a few days off after that (made some excuses, pouted a bit that I wasn't as invincible as I'd hoped I was...) and started back up tonight. I decided I would re-do some of the first three weeks' workouts to build myself up a bit more and increase my strength and stamina before tackling that week 4 day 1 workout again. I was so pleased tonight to find that doing the very first C25K workout again was *almost* easy! Okay not easy but SO much more doable than the first time I did it (during which time I thought I was going to die running for 60 seconds...)

Anyway! The reason I dumped all that was to say that I still had zero interest in exercising today. After a few days off it was that much harder to get back at it. But because of this thread and knowing I simply couldn't flop on a commitment on the very first day, I got my tired rear out there, even fairly late at night and got 'er done. So THANK YOU for being here :) It was just what I needed to motivate me to move my body!!

Thanks for the info, Cheri! I completely forgot to check Craigslist for weights!

Ok I talked to the Dr. and because I have fibro (chronic fatigue and chronic pain among many other things are really hard on me)I am only allowed to do 10 min of walking and 10 minutes of stretching every day this week. I will rest on Sunday and see how I feel and up the walking time if I can next week and not to push myself. So if it is ok with you all I would still like to participate.

8/8 I did 10 min of walking and 10 min of stretching before bed. Took an extra pain pill when I went to bed and I am just a little stiff this morning. Here's hoping...

Is there a time I have to have this posted to count?

Pebbles - I'm so glad you can join us in our efforts to become healthier women! I'm glad your doctor gave you the release for these activities and I will be keeping you in prayer that you will be able to increase your time and get to feeling better!! I don't think there is a specific time of day to post our workouts.

Tuesday is done: 2.52 miles in 42 minutes. DH walked with me so I was able to walk at a quicker pace! For some reason I just CAN'T get to that pace on my own!

I have lost 5.2 pounds in the last 4 weeks...

Checking in for Monday 8/8--I thought I'd have time before heading to band camp for the day to do my ChaLean workout, but I'd have to get up too early and I'm already getting up at 5:45. (Camp runs 7:45 AM to 9 PM.) Guess I'll start that next Monday.

However, I did put on a pedometer and walked 9,715 steps at camp. Many of those were done while pulling a wagon load of drink jugs (15-18 gallons of water/gatorade!), carrying tables, etc. My legs ache--it'll be a 2 Advil night!

I can totally relate, Kim. My ds just finished band camp yesterday and I am so happy not to be pulling that wagon full of water jugs anymore!!

Done for Tuesday!

A 4.72 mile walk in 1 hr, 16 minutes. A nice morning walk with DH in the rain! Came home to a fresh-from-our-garden veggie omelet. Can't beat that kind of start to the day!

Ok...chart is updated. I'm not sure there's a "right" way to do it, but here's what seems to be working for me. I got everything updated until I went to bed last night. Then this morning I updated all the post after that. When I started seeing people check in for today, 8/9, I went ahead and posted the updated chart.

Now...if you posted after that, like you did Pebbles, I have it updated on my paper version..and tomorrow morning when I update the chart I will catch you. So there's no worries about being late, as long as you put in your post what day your checking in for i'll catch it and it will show up the next day.

Glad you can join us Pebbles. Sounds like you will be off to a great start and that's the first step...starting!!

That is what I keep telling myself after reading what you all are doing! LOL
