Hello Friends,

I am a soapmaker and wanted to create some new labels. I am specifically having problems with a lip balm label. The label size is 1.5x1 inch. Do you have any suggestions as how to create this? Is it possible? I currently make them in word, but wanted to use a new label I created in photoshop. In word I have them seperated out so I can get about 30 labels out of one sheet of paper. I use the same process for lotion labels, soap labels, etc. I have the label in a 12x12 to start and want to make it small, perferably on one sheet of paper. I am fairly new to photoshop, but was hoping this was possible. I wasn't sure if there was a scrap girls label tool that might also do this.

Avery has finally added some .psd templates for their return address labels. That would give you much more scope to play.

I was thinking along the same lines as Gayle...can you use a ready made return address label sheet? It might take a little adjusting to get the spacing right, but I'm sure it can be done.

Are you using paper with pre-cut label spaces? Or are you printing on a full-size sticky sheet? Or just plain paper that you will apply your own adhesive to??


You can try starting with a blank document in the size you want for the label - 1.5 x 1 inch. Design your label just as you want it, and save it. Save it first as a PSD (so you can always go back to edit layers), then save it as a PNG.

Next, open up a 8.5 x 11 inch document in Photoshop, and then drag your label PNGs up and arrange them on the page in rows/columns to fit where the labels should be printed, until your sheet is full. Then just print that page.



If the paper you are printing has pre-cut label spaces, you can probably adjust the gridlines/rulers within the software to mark off the perforation lines.

I actually use clear, full sheet, waterproof vinyl labels, so your idea would work perfectly! Thanks so much. I wanted to make sure I could set my photoshop that small.
