Saturday's workout: cross-country meet and marching band competition. Putting on the pedometer to know how many steps I actually log with all the walking/running around! (And some more heavy equipment hauling at band...)
Tiza, I only have three sets of weights for ChaLean Extreme so far--a set of 5's, 8's and 10's. I'd like heavier, but have managed to double up. I have figured a way to use the 8/10's together on the lower body lifting. I could so use a 20 but don't want to spend the $$.

Speaking of boy muscles, P90X has a lot of pull-ups and I need to splurge for the chin-up bar that can fit on a doorway. So I think I'll stick with ChaLean's arm workouts until I order that in a week or so.
I have those! I think they are very good too. It's a good investment if you are really going to workout at home. I also have a pull-up bar. Cheri, I could have sworn I picked mine up for $19.95 at Target but that was two summers ago.
I love Tony H! I haven't worked out with Tony in a long time... been thinking of doing the Yoga X CD two days a week though and maybe the leg CD. I can't believe how much the Yoga routine helps everything else if you do it consistently. It is a LONG CD... I think it's 75 minutes.

Sheri, I actually hated running most of my life. I think part of it is because I had two knee surgeries when I was young - one in 3rd grade and one in 7th - and that's back when they really opened up your leg. No arthroscopic. I have a huge nasty scar on my left knee and I've had it all my life. So running was never ever something I was ever good at - I run slow. I played basketball from 6th grade until I blew out my knee my freshman year in college. I decided to go through the rehab to make sure I could play again that season but then after that season, I made the decision to not continue playing. I'd rather walk the rest of my life. That injury really shook me up and made me more "gimpy" on the floor.
That being said, during my freshman year in college I was in the best shape of my life. The coach had a pre-season running program (WHICH I HATED!!!!) and the team would have to run outside. There was a patch of running that was hills and there was a section that had those long long stairs and we would run those. HATED IT! That Thanksgiving when I was home for a few days, I went out and ran by myself because I knew a killer practice was coming that Monday. I ran from my house to the high school and back like it was nothing. I think it's 3 miles from that house to the HS. That's the first time I recall having a "runner's high" and ever since that moment, I've dreamed of finding that place again. I'm still working on it.... I know it's there waiting for me. It's one of the best feelings. That's what inspires me to try and get back into running. This is my second serious attempt at it since college. I hope I can just deal with the injuries and ailments that usually accompany running.
9/17 Ran/Walked 3.1 miles with my girls today. I knew I wasn't going to be as fast or have as much in the tank today after running 25 minutes straight yesterday... and I didn't. I was only able to run the first 8 minutes before I had to walk. So we walked/ran as I could. The girls were good and stayed at my pace which is much much slower than theirs. lololol! We finished it in 45 min which was actually an improvement for me since last time I timed myself alone was 47 min. But I found my girls to be a major distraction for me. lol! Both of them drag their feet when they run - maybe because they were running slower than they would by themselves I don't know. But it really annoyed me. All I could hear was their feet slushing through the gravel and I couldn't concentrate which I normally need to do. This made it harder for me and it was easier for me to "just walk" instead of pushing through the tough parts. So I can't say running with them helped me. lolol! But it was a great thing to do together and I can see myself doing it on Saturday mornings if they are up for it.
Of course when I got home the first thing Dan says was "Mommy is sweating. But the girls aren't." Thanks Dan. Appreciate your input. lolol!

I missed yesterday because of early rain so I will have to make that up tomorrow-hoping the weather cooperates. (however, it doesn't look too promising)

No exercise for me today unless you count shivering, lol. I purchased an old, old Monopoly set among other games in a lot at the auction, a box of cigar boxes which I intend to alter with SB paper, etc...maybe teacher gifts? And my huge score: A library table given to my aunt years ago by my great-grandmother. It's beautiful!

Tomorrow I start Phase 2 of P90X. Yay!
Jen- That is incredible! I know of that "runners high" you speak of. I did actually get into running at one small point in my life. I ran from my house in West Seattle to the park (Lincoln Park in case anybidy knows the area.) I'd run around inside this massive wooded park and down the hill to the waterfront. I remember one day specifically it was raining and I ran for about 2.5 hours (running and walking, I wasn't that hardcore!!) And I got in that "zone." The rain was washing my sweat away and everything felt right. You know how awful running is, and then you push through that point and you start to actually feel like you could go on forever? Jen, I know what you are searching for. It is elusive!!

I actually found a pull up bar at TJ Maxx for about $14. Score! It's not the best or high-tech but it works. I think I saw some online for a reasonable price. Be careful though, they seem to leave black marks on the wall so I place tissues where the two sides contact the paint.

Cheri, I'm so sorry we didn't make it over to the sale Saturday. If it hadn't been so far, I would have risked it but I didn't want to drive all that way and be miserable. I'm very sad that I didn't get a chance to see you - and maybe come home with some goodies.

It was pretty miserable...I don't blame you at all for not coming! Mom and our boys hung out in the farmhouse (only family was allowed in there) until it stopped raining. Then our middle boy went outside and found a friend to play with. That boy must have come with one of the auctioneers or the church women who served lunch. They played forever and had a great time. For the indoor stint, may I just say I'm grateful for (but hate at the same time) hand held video games on DH's phone and tablet thingie:)
