I did miss my workout tonight. Ugh. Came home from work and fell asleep. Now I can't possibly make up 3 workouts tomorrow, but I will so at least two, and, I will do better next week!

Parents - never tell you kids stuff like this because it was not good for me to think that I can't exercise because "it's for everybody but me."
Oh Ro, I know exactly what you mean! I wanted to take dancing lessons when I was a little girl like a lot of my friends were but I think my mother said something like "chubby girls don't take dance lessons." Arggghhhh! Maybe if I'd taken dance back then, I wouldn't have remained chubby all my life! I don't think she said it to be hurtful. Maybe we couldn't afford it then.
I didn't earn the JFK fitness award either. Maybe that's something I can work towards!
Tuesday, Oct. 4 - 35 minute walk. Whatever was going on with my left foot Sunday and Monday seems to have resolved itself. It was still a little ouchy this morning but by the time I was finished with dinner tonight, I was ready for a walk!
After hearing what good things the gals at the meet up had to say about the Beachbody programs they've used and Sandi's recommendation of Kathy Smith's Project:YOU! Type 2 program, I'm going to purchase it. It's a program, exercise and diet information, designed specifically for Type 2 diabetics, which I am. It is endorsed by the American Diabetes Association. I'm going to pay for it up front but if I lose 12 pounds in 12 weeks, DH will reimburse me. How's that for motivation?
WTG Angie!! You are a great inspiration to me!!
I'm so excited you got this Pat! I dug it out and started doing it again. When I first got it, I couldn't even get past 12 minutes of the foundation workout and after awhile I could get through most of it. When I got it out this week, I was able to do the entire foundation work out, with the lower energy modifications. I still get kind of messed up with some of the kickboxing moves, but I think with time it will come.
You were right, seeing the changes Angie has made, Cheri's dedication, and all the other's work and ideas, was inspiring. Even though I didn't sign up for the shred thread this month, I have been working on getting more activity into my life and even with a super icky situation with my work, I made some strides in the right direction. So, I'm back on track with more regular workouts and I will offer to be your work out buddy for Project YOU!
When's the next shred challenge starting?

We usually take a few days off and start the next round on a Monday. Is someone willing to take on the chart for our next round? I discussed the chart with Angie, and she has agreed that I can pass along the "backbone" of the chart. And I am going to throw in the days of the week and numbers 1-30 as well, so all the next person would have to add is the dates, names, and decorate it a little. No one says the chart needs to be an elaborate layout, either. The markers for each person could be the embellishing:) I basically pulled my signature apart and used part of it on the top of the chart and the other part at the bottom.

Ok - You all are so encouraging!!! I was told that I was kicked out of ballet class when I was four because I was uncoordinated ... who would do that to a kid?? But that has always stuck in my head and I always figured I was not athletically inclined. I'm with Pat and Ro - never got those fitness awards, and as an adult I love to dance!! I just got back from a ladies weekend retreat - the camp is situated on over 200 acres of Huron National Forest and the only mode of transportation once you get there are your FEET!! My POOR legs !! I ended up doing 3 hikes yesterday (intentional ones - including one photo hike by myself!!) and they rest of the schedule had me walking all over creation. Last night my legs cried all night long!! I also did a nice walk this morning (Sunday 10/9) before the 4 hour drive coming home. Tomorrow Tom and I will leave for our week long vacation but I thought I would catch up on the boards tonight. Pat I am ordering the Kathy Smith New You for type 2 as well. Hopefully it will be here when I get home from our camping trip!! I am bound and determined to go to ladies retreat next year as a more fit woman with more energy to not huff and puff up those hills. I also would LOVE to be in a better spot come March when Tom and I celebrate our 30th anniversary .... Thank you my friends!!

I worked out today a little bit. (Sunday 10-9) 30 min of Cardio Max. I had to warm up because I was so cold! That helped...LOL
I can't take the next round because we are leaving for our trip to the US a week from tomorrow, but if we do December I can take that or for sure I can take January.

Yay for you Lei! We're all in this together and I think all of us are tired of being tired and limited by our various states of unfitness. I've reached an age where I know if i don't take much better care of myself, I'll be a sick old lady in just a few years and I am so not ready for that yet. I hope you like Project You! It was very intimidating for me when I first started it and now, I feel like there's hope by the end of the program, I may actually be able to do it! LOL! It is a challenge and to start out just do what you can do. I think the key is consistency, a big problem I've had with my work schedule.
I actually took ballet for one year....I was actually good, even for a chubette. Couldn't keep up with that and piano lessons, so the piano won. I really love to move to music, but a waltzing elephant just isn't a pretty picture, so I've suppressed that. In high school we had a folk dancing unit in PE class...the favorite PE class of my entire life. In the military, we had mandatory fitness tests....oh, how I hated those, just barely managed to get by with those. So now I can move when I want and how I want and I will enjoy getting acquainted with my body moving again. Another thing I've taken up (with videos, no classes nearby) is Qi Gung. I love it! Not enough for total fitness, but very relaxing, yet energizing too.
I'm traveling to a conference this week, so not sure how or when I'll fit activity in, but I will somewhere. I'm starting to feel so much better now that moving is a part of my life.

I finished week 3 of P90X - and am very much looking forward to "recovery week" - otherwise known as core strength and cardio week.
I host approximately monthly crops here in town with a core group of friends I've known for about 10 years. Only 1 girl and I were there Friday night, and she is about 60 years old and works with a trainer. We compared boy muscles, lol - her idea, teehee. She was hurting from all the lunges she'd done the day before, and I was wondering how much I'd hurt Saturday from all the lunges (Legs and Back DVD) I did earlier Friday.

Everyone is doing so well! Sandi, I'm glad to hear your enthusiasm!
I was one of those un-coordinated non-sports kid. I was able to max that Army physical fitness test for many years, and that gave me great joy. It turns out I have a runner's body, but I do not have runner's feet. And I have post runner's knees now.
I think some adults think they're motivating you by telling you that you can't do something, on the theory you'll be angry with them and prove them wrong. It works for some people some of the time, but I think it's a lousy strategy.

Sandi - will I be able to keep up with my M/W/F water aerobics with this?? I love this exercise as I can feel the muscles working yet it is easy on my joints.

You two crack me up!
I did a one hour walk this afternoon, and in a little bit I'll do walk # 2 by walking to church. That will fill up at least two holes in my chart.
When I was younger my brother called me "Jr. Truck", and I was always the last one picked for teams in grade school. I joined a ball team at my work many years ago, and I sat on the bench the entire season. So the fact that as an adult I am reasonably fit gives me great pleasure to all those nay sayers from childhood.

I was hoping to get a double in sometime over the weekend to make up my miss last week. Maybe tomorrow...
I wish I had time to take on the charting, but we could be at this CC and marching band stuff another 2-3 weeks (or it could all end this weekend...we're in the finals of both seasons and you go til you lose.)

April, I loved getting to see Multnomah Falls the last time we were in WA/OR.
Friday done! Took a 45 minute photo walk with Jackson. So while there were a few stops, the rest of the walk was at Happy Collie pace! I estimate we covered 2 miles. It would have been longer but I saw the neighbor kid coming down his drive on an ATV with his big dog following and didn't want to risk a meeting. Last time one of his dogs was loose DH got bit as he jogged past the place.
Cheri, would you give me a button for Friday? Pretty please?
