We have ROCKED this month!!!
If no one is able to take over the next round, would you all mind another go with this same 'ol chart and me in charge of it? I am so afraid if I don't have you all and a chart to answer to, I'll fall by the wayside. And I'd MISS YOU ALL too!! I'd vote for starting next Monday - gives us a few days off from the official charting, plus my version of the chart starts on Monday (lol - and I don't want to change that part!)

Tuesday weigh-in - Lost another pound this week, so that takes care of the 0.5lb I gained over the meetup, plus a little extra lost. I also took measurements, and over the past 2 weeks I lost 1 inch in my waist (yay), 1/2 inch from each thigh, 1 inch from each arm, and 1 inch from my chest.

I would love to do the chart sometime, but I know I will have difficulty keeping up with it right now. Cheri, it would be awesome if you continued for another month if no one else will be available. And starting next Monday sounds good to me.
I promise I"ll help out with the chart another month.

My DD's team WON the meet. They are sectional champions--next stop is regionals on Saturday! Huckleberry wanted to go but couldn't make it since i left straight from school. I did let him sit on the trophy that is spending the night at our house.
My DS's team placed third and also advances to regionals. John placed 6th so he'd have advanced on his own anyway, but it is so much nicer to have your team with you at these big state tournament meets!
Thanks Cheri, for offering to keep us accountable another month!!!

10-6 Walked around airport frantically after accidentally going to wrong section of airport, then to bathroom, drinking fountain or to simply peruse local scene about 5 times since my flight was delayed 2 hours - 30(?) mins vigorous walking dragging accoutrements
10-7 Walked through mall with incredibly gorgeous gentleman-friend, 30 mins low-impact, googly-eyed pace
10-8 Another Walmart escapade, this time looking for dinner ingredients - 30 mins walking back and forth between aisles at semi-leisurely, mildly confused pace
10-9 Navigated Walmart with a girlfriend gossiping about boys & shopping for brie and mini quiches (ahem..mini quiches may not be on diet) 20 mins
10-10 Non-P90X calisthenics, low to high impact 1.5 hours
10-11 Core Synergistics for 50 mins.
So you see, if I really break it down, I actually did some working out while on vacation!

I did another 25 minutes after supper for today.
Cheri, it would be awesome if you don't mind continuing the chart. I think we all need the accountability.

Good for you working out on vacation! That can be really tough to do when a person is out of their routine.
I was generous and counted them all, though I'm not sure about that brie and quiche trip;)

I have a yoga routine for my iPad that I really like. It's called Pocket Yoga. I love it and get a great workout.
So I haven't been exercising and my body is feeling it. I feel bad and guilty
I feel very frustrated and am tired of the whole thing. We are vegetarian and eat really healthy. I don't usually over eat. We don't drink soda pop or eat fast food. Nothing ever seems to work and I am so frustrated I could cry. We just can't afford to spend money on a diet program right now. I'm so tired of it all. I don't want to complain, but I know that if I don't ask for help I won't get it. I'm hoping someone here can give me some tips and ideas.

Sara, I'm so sorry to hear about your frustration. It sounds like it might me a problem with your scale more than with you. I know with our scale, we keep it tucked under the bathroom counter and then pull it out to weigh ourselves. The instructions said to press on it so that the digital numbers come up but don't step on it until the numbers go away. That helps it adjust after having been moved.
The last month did go incredibly fast!

It is very frustrating when you try to eat healthy and exercise and still don't see the weight loss you expect. I went through that for months!
Here are my initial thoughts...just based from my personal experience and research:
Do you know how many calories you are consuming?
If you eat a lot of dairy/grain/nut products - their calories add up quickly! Also, even though fruit is very healthy and an important part of a well-balanced diet, it also contains quite a bit of sugars & calories, so you could be consuming more calories from fruit than you realize and it is stalling your weight loss.
Here is something I just read online in an article where someone asked if eating too much fruit can affect their weight loss:
Quote
Fruit is about 80–100 calories per serving. A serving is one cup of fresh fruit or a half cup of canned fruit. (Yes, the exact calories vary, but these are a useful overall guideline.) You are eating about 7-1/2 servings of fruit per day. At an average of 90 calories per serving, that's 630 calories from fruit alone!
Vegetables vary in their calorie counts, but 35 calories per serving is another general guideline. So you are eating another 70 calories from the two daily servings of vegetables you mentioned.
That adds up to 700 calories from produce. With a daily limit of 1,700 calories overall, you have only 1,000 calories left!
How much protein are you getting in your diet? Protein plays an important role in weight loss and muscle fitness. Since you are eating vegetarian, you aren't getting the lean proteins from meat sources, so are you taking a protein shake/supplement??
Don't give up, Sara!

I do protein shakes because they really keep my from feeling hungry. I count my calories. I need to stay around 1400 calories a day to keep from gaining weight. And that is with exercising for an hour most days. I add up my physical activity calories and try to get in at least 300 a day. I use averages, similar to what the responder in Tiza's post talked about. Most vegetables are 40 calories a cup. Leafy greens are about 10 calories for 3 cups. I measure my dressings, since that is where the calories usually are in a salad. I also use a food scale and measuring cups. If I start to creep up on the scale, it is always because I have let one of these things slip.
Studies have shown that people who track what they eat always do better at losing weight than those who don't.

Sara..we have all been where you are. Unless it's a thyroid problem like April mentioned, then it will always be in your calorie intake. I bet you just don't realize it yet. There are many calorie counters on the web for free. I know it is a pain in the butt to do it, but really once you get in the habit it's not so bad.
Even though I use Jillian's site, her calorie counter thingy is horrible. I like Calorie King.
You can also check how many calories you need to be consuming a day from the WebMD Site they have a BMI Calculator that will give you a lot of information.

LOL - you didn't check in and I commented that you better;) In fact I said I'd give y'all until the end of Wednesday (today) to check in for the charting days and I'll post the final chart late tonight/early tomorrow (depending on how late I go to bed).

*hugs* I'll be thinking of you!
One last question - did the scale come with a battery? Try a brand new battery. It could have sat at the store/factory and the batteries that come with the scales sometimes look a little "iffy." That might account for some of the wild swinging numbers.

I did 1 hour of Kenpo X today. Amazing how much more coordinated I am with it now that I've done it 4 times - I'm sure I would howl with laughter if I could see me doing it the first time.
I'll start a new signup thread for Monday soon!

Thanks Brandy and April, I'm glad I could make you laugh!
Sara, I have read a very eye-opening book called the Vegetarian Myth by Lierre Keith. I am not inclined to believe absolutely everything I read but you might want to check it out. I know being vegetarian is a really passionate thing with people but it never hurts to have info - lots of info, from all sides. I also know it is not my place to tell someone what they should do or think, but if I feel someone could benefit by me saying something uncomfortable I will choose to say it every time. Please don't take my suggestion the wrong way or be offended! I just do not think being a vegetarian is the healthiest way to go. And if something is not making you feel good, maybe you might want to take a look at it.
