Well, as soon as I logged off I totally pictured where I put my guidebook and there it was! I found it! And yes, the body fat chart is separate, but I was using it as a bookmark. The greatest news though, is that my original body fat was 25.2 (had been as high as 26.9 according to the different times I've started this) and now it is 21.5! No wonder my clothes fit me better (and I'm just a couple inches from needing a smaller size dress slacks.)

I know I've been very hit and miss this go-round. I'm ready to kick it in gear for the next 30 days, especially with the additional eating opportunities...

Wow, thanks, Cheri! That helps a lot. i was thinking the body fat chart was in the book, but maybe it was separate (but I probably left it in the book...) I did the proverbial 'put it somewhere so I wouldn't lose it' and now I don't remember where that was!

I know that place - I put a lot of stuff there too;)

Awesome! WTG! Isn't that a great feeling to see the numbers decreasing?

got 20 minutes in today. Going up and down stairs in a sitting position using arms and the good foot is a great arm workout!

I got a good report from the surgeon today. I've had lots of bruising, and I was concerned there was too much swelling, but he says I'm withing "normal." I think I'm ready to go downstairs once a day from now on.

Pat, Wednesday through Sunday this week is not on the chart. But we can all continue to check in and keep each other accountable if we want to:)

I did Shoulders and Arms today. My triceps are definitely stronger than 60 days ago!

I have been way off target with exercise this week. Greg and Zack are in SD for my inlaws' 50th, while Cody and I are getting ready to join them next week. With progress reports at school and packing chores at home, I've been wiped! I'm going to have to think about how to carve out a few minutes for exercise each day over the next week. Obviously trying to make time for a full blown workout isn't going to happen.

Tiza - I know what you mean about getting bored with a program. I used to dabble in programs and when I got bored I'd just move onto a different one. But there is no feeling like when you finish the challenge of a full program. It is important to not feel bored but I also don't want you to short-change yourself and miss out on that feeling of accomplishing something big that so many people have not finished. What programs do you have now? (I heard you mention Turbo Jam.) One thing that might really inspire you is to get you involved with someone or in a group of people who are doing the same thing. When you can compare your day to day workout with someone who is going through exactly what you are it really has a way of inspiring you. It helps keep people from giving up because they have someone to answer to. Are you thinking of ChaLEAN? I have a group starting P90X soon (I will be starting my 2nd round with them) and another group starting (possibly) Slim in 6, they are still deciding on a program that is markedly easier than P90X/Insanity/etc. (My mom will be orchestrating & motivating that group, Go Mom!!) I'm still trying to organize it in the best way because I want so much for everyone to succeed. Maybe you just haven't found your favorite program yet, or maybe mixing up different stuff is what you need to do now to keep it interesting. One really good thing about having a program is it's harder to skip a workout because you feel like you are messing up your program timeline. If you are doing your own stuff it's easier to take an impromptu day off (I know this from experience!) When I start to feel unmotivated I either 1)Push through, just do it anyway and once I start it's usually not as dreadful as I imagined. 2)Buy myself a new toy to make it fun (such as a new workout outfit or piece of equipment to use with your workout.) 3)Add in something new and challenging, such as striving for one more rep on each exercise or totally mixing it up like adding in a little challenge like 4 minutes of jump rope intervals in the morning. You might start feeling pumped and get excited to see more results, thus pushing harder on your workouts. You can also get creative and seasonal. Pack up some hot tea and round up the fam (or yourself if no one is being cooperative) and take a walk to enjoy the leaves. Go explore something you've been wanting to explore. Go mall walking to plan for Christmas gifts. Go out into your yard and look like a crazy person by doing walking lunges from one tree to the next (I've been planning on doing yard exercises too, my neighbors will certainly wonder!). Try to think of something, anything that is athletic that sounds fun or intriguing to do. Taiko was an excellent choice!

*hugssss Sheri* Thanks for the little pep talk and suggestions!! Currently, I am doing the TurboJam workouts (I have both the regular TJ DVDs plus the Fat Burning Elite add-on), and will mix up the routines depending on my energy & hunger levels when I get home from work. On the nights that I can't bring myself to doing one of those videos, I either go for a walk or ride my recumbent bike. Looking through my Beachbody history, it looks like I started TJ back in mid-July, and I started getting bored (or lazy) in September. Right now I am considering getting ChaLEAN, especially after hearing Conda talk about the workouts and how great she feels afterwards. (I hope she wasn't trying to keep that a secret :giggle_bear: )
Taiko class has been one of the best things I've done for myself lately. Although usually I am incredibly sore the following day.... which makes me think that the muscles in my arms & legs could use a lot more strength exercises. I only have 1 month of taiko classes left. :( I really really hope they offer another class in the spring! I don't care if I have to take the beginner's class over again.. I'll do it! I'm LOVING both the musical aspect and the physical aspect. It's all I can think about and talk about lately.

I actually have a colleague at work who exercises daily. Every morning the two of us compare our workouts and aches/pains. The gym she attends is too far from me, otherwise I'd think about joining her for the classees she takes. Well... yesterday we started talking about Beachbody workouts, and she mentioned that she might ask her mom for P90X for Christmas. I told her I was looking at ChaLEAN, so she hopped online to look it up. So now she doesn't know which program she'll get. I jokingly said that I'll get ChaLEAN and she can get P90X, and then after 90 days we'll switch. So I might be stuck ;)

P.S. I feel the need to mention that my colleague is a skinny, very fit person....who found Jillian's 30-Day Shred DVDs TOO EASY!! So her aches & pains aren't quite the same level as mine ;) I enjoy commiserating with my SG Shred ladies instead :)

I was just talking to someone about that tonight, she was telling me about all these ladies she's met who have had great results with ChaLEAN. Chalene is such a fun, motivating person. That sounds like a good plan, plus you guys can preview each others' programs to see if it's something you would enjoy. I think people are somewhat scared of P90x but it's really not too bad because you can modify it to fit your level (example, push ups on knees, pull ups with chair or bands.) I'm excited for you! I definitely want to do a round of Chalean so you'll have to tell me all about your experience with it. :)
And definitely enroll in a beginner's Taiko class again if that's all they offer! You've found a passion!
The funny thing is I've belonged to gyms in the past. I was actually a gym rat once, I went every day, attended classes and used the machines. I am actually in BETTER shape now doing P90X at home (not to mention I was about 24 then, I'm 30 now) And I was paying over $1200 a year for the gym. I never would have believed it back then. And I don't have to leave my house and waste all that time commuting. It's definitely a win/win.

Jaymee - High Intensity Interval Training! Do circuits. Here's what I do in a crunch: figure out which muscles to target. Legs, Core, Arms, full body.. Pick 3 exercises that use that muscle. For example for legs you could do squats, lunges and kicks. Set a stopwatch (assuming you don't have an interval timer) and do one exercise for 40 seconds (as many as you can do) then rest for 20 seconds, then do the next exercise. Go through each round of 3 twice with no breaks, you have to push yourself! Then take maybe a minute break and do 2 more sets of 3. So your total workout will be 12 minutes but wow, it's intense! You will sweat a lot and feel like you are going to die. That's how you get a good workout in such little time though.

That is SO EXCITING Tiza!! I can't wait to hear all about your journey!

A short one for me today, my friend is waiting for me to come over. I did a short 45 min Fountain of Youth Yoga (P90X One on One) and then a 15 minute HIIT with my gymboss because Yoga didn't feel like enough. :)

Got my workout in today--it was easy to find the time since I was stuck at home waiting for the plumber to fix our frozen pipes! And DH is out of town. Fortunately I was able (after 12 phone calls) to arrange a sub to cover my classes. Not a fun day.

I really, really needed more than just my bike ride this morning so when I was starting my laundry in the basement this morning I decided to "run the stairs" and I did it 15 times - up and down, up and down, and then I did just 20 minutes on my bike. If I don't get outside soon to walk, I'm going to go completely stir crazy!

Hopefully, today, Rich's eye will be open and the swelling down enough that we can get out and about!

So, today DONE!

I did nothing yesterday.

Today I walked to the grocery store & back. And laundry. But that's about it.

Tomorrow will be taiko day.

And then I'll get back on track on Monday :)
