Recently in the newsletter there was a lo of a tooth fairy silhouette that looked punched out from the background paper that was very cool! I scrap-lifted that idea and have done this page I'm attaching. I'm not happy with mine tho... how do I make the silhouette look "punched out" instead of looking like it is a black die cut I've placed on the page? Is it a shadow adjustment? or an emboss adjustment? Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks! :)

If you mean indented, then you can use the emboss in the settings, change it to down, then change the height to a number that makes you happy with it. To make it look cut out, you can place a black paper behind your cutout, select your silouette so the marching ants are on it, then delete it or click on the eye to hide it - you just need the marching ants - then make sure that you're on your main background paper and click delete - you'll see the black paper behind it. You can add an emboss or shadow to your background paper to get the cutout to look the way you want. HTHs :-)

You can also try the Inner Shadow style - that will give you more of a punched out look. And you can also punch it out just as you would on a paper layout - put a paper the color you want under your main paper, CTRL click on your silhouette, then click on the layer of your "main" paper, and CTRL X. Then you can add a drop shadow to the main paper. (You may have to make the silhouette itself invisible to see this.) Hope this helps!

Ohhhh! light-bulb moment here! I was adjusting shadows etc on the silhouette instead of the paper. Thanks for taking the time to help me get this right :D
