Sandi: Good for you!! I think you'll like Chalene!
Ro: Good to have you back for the next challenge! I've missed you around these parts and hope your recovery continues on track:)
Angie: Sounds like you're continuing well into your recovery too!
Emily: Can't remember if I welcomed you here yet or just on your "I'm new to SG" thread in the other forum - I'm from central Iowa:) Always fun to have another Iowan around these purple parts, lol.

I've been a member of SG's for a long time now but not active on the forums, etc. But........ my daughter told me that I should join the Shred group, so here I am. I have been doing daily workouts for quite a while (trying to keep in shape for biking, hiking and X country skiing). I have mostly done Beachbody Hip Hop Abs, but may try ChaLEAN Extreme starting Monday with some of the others in the group. I like Hip Hop Abs because it's a little like dancing...

So please add me to the group and I will post my workouts.

I am a Beachbody coach so there is the possibility for me to make a commission if you make me your coach and order through me. That is not my reason for recommending & standing by P90x, ChaLEAN or any of the Beachbody programs. I have been saying the exact same things about the programs before I became a coach. I decided to become a coach after going through a few Beachbody programs and believing in them so much that I wanted to be a guiding light to others & point them towards what has helped me. I take coaching very seriously and I absolutely love working with my people and helping them through the programs and their personal struggles. Health and fitness is a passion of mine so coaching was a natural progression. I would absolutely NEVER recommend or promote anything that I didn't believe was high quality or worth the money, I simply was not raised that way. I am not here on the Shred to make money; it just delights me to no end that there is a movement on ScrapGirls to be healthy and exercise no matter what program you do or what exercise you use to get fit. I wish I had joined sooner!

Okay, chart is updated, if I forgot anyone let me know.

Just out of curiosity for all you Chalean ladies...we live in an upstairs apt now, would that be a problem? You know, is there a lot of jumping around and whatnot?

I live in an upstairs apartment too. The guy below me has put up with all my jumping around through TurboJam, so I'm sure he'll be okay with CE (whatever it entails) ;)

I'd love to answer any question I can! I'm not necessarily an expert, perhaps more like a motivator & encourager. I am a bit of a geek though, I've researched a lot of about fitness & exercise.

As for the jumping around on the second floor, I'd say it is the perfect excuse to remember to land softly on your toes/balls of your feet, like a cat. That will help you avoid injury and certainly cause less racket for your neighbors. ;)

Yay!!! So glad everyone is joining in!! Welcome Jo, we are glad to have Sheri's mom with us!!

Melanie-I do all the workouts low impact so if jumping did become an issue for neighbors it is simple to modify and still receive an effective workout.

As for Chalene??? Well...I kinda like her. ALOT. I have made it through two weeks of ChaLEAN extreme and with all her instructions and pointers have managed to do this without hurting my back. (Many of you know at this time last year I was just finishing injections in my lower back for severe pain) I am VERY limited as to what I can do. I will never be able to do the "jumping" things...ever..I don't have the "cushions" between my lower lumbar. So, I am tickled that I have been able to follow along with CE. So...if I can do it, YOU can do it too!! I can tell a BIG difference in the way my jeans are fitting, just in those two weeks! :D

Speaking of Chalene...I probably should get busy...it's burn it off and recharge day.

<----waving "hi" to Jo. Nice to have you with us.

Well ChaLEAN Extreme wasn't delivered yesterday so it'll be sometime later this week and I'll be out of town until Friday, so I'll start that next week and continue with what I've been doing for this week. I have been following Chalene's Push jump start...love her little videos and the advice and goal-setting, etc. not just for diet, exercise and health, but for life. She says you can modify her program and another program to suit your needs. Like at age __(significantly aged), I need 48 hours recovery from a real hard workout. Ok, so I can do less intense workouts on the extra recovery day. And the calendar for the workouts, well, the rest days for me need to be Fridays because of work and travel schedules. And I'm like Angie, had a problem elbow, so will need to modify upper body for a couple of more weeks. But the bottom line is I'm moving. And that's better than before.

How many pages is this thread going to be before we even start?? LOL

Tomorrow is my ChaLEAN rest day...go figure it would be the first day we start. I'll get a walk in or do one of the "bonus" videos!

Another thing you can do in an upstairs apartment is buy a Yoga mat or Plyometrics mat. Not only will it absorb impact to be nicer to your joints, but absorb any sound your impact makes for the people below you.
I was supposed to make up Yoga from Thursday today, but we have the piano tuner coming sometime between 2 and 4, and are invited to a friend's house for dinner as of an hour ago. Good thing the charting doesn't begin until tomorrow;)

Candy, every time you get back to you're program is counted as success! Every time you miss a workout and then start again is a win! Glad to see you back.

Chiming in here before we start tomorrow--

Hi to Jo and Emily!

I agree--Chalene isn't annoying like Jillian can be...

I was hit and miss last month and am looking for ways to avoid that--analyzing the situations, looking for solutions, etc. So on Thursday, if I don't get my workout in before company arrives (due to kitchen duties...), I'm planning on taking a walk and inviting folks to join me. I think my SIL will go with me. She just lost a bunch of weight on WW.

Let's do this!

I'm looking forward to getting back in the ballgame also. Sandi your words are so encouraging. It seems like momentum is a very powerful thing and if you lose it for even a moment, it feels nearly impossible to get back on track.

Oh, thanks Debbie! Melanie, if you could please add me to the chart. You can't get rid of me that easily! ;)

Conda & Sandi, I love Chalene too. She is such a neat person. I'm intrigued by her interviews and motivating ideas. She just has so much positive energy! And both of you, way to go for modifying and making it work for you! Some people think up any excuse why they can't do something and both of you made it work for you. That's inspiring!

Hi CandyK, welcome!

Cheri, good idea with the plyo or yoga mat! I also use those funny-looking Vibram 5-finger shoes so I think that makes jumping around pretty quiet.

Kim, good idea and fantastic way to motivate others to get healthy!

Amy, that is very true. I've found it better to work out every day even if one day is very low-impact stretching because then it keeps me in the habit. If I take a few days off it can be so hard to get back into it.

Hello Shredders!

I'm in on this round!

This school year has been a tough one-I have a very challenging caseload of kiddos. To make a long story short, I was pretty overwhelmed for a while, and my professional life negatively affected my personal life. But I got it all together, and it's time to get back to taking care of me.

So now I'm going to direct my mantra for the past few months to the shred........WILL IT TO HAPPEN.

Goodnight, I have a hot date with my P90X at 4:30am. Posted Image

Welcome back Candy and Julie! LOL to the "hot date" with P90X - DH thinks I have the hots for Tony (I think he's cool, but I do not have the hots for him, lol), so that was particularly funny.
Btw, how many hot dates START at 4:30 am? ;) :giggle_bear:

I do have carpeting in my apartment, which helps deaden the sound a little. But it's an older building - lots of creaky floorboards!

The Chalean workouts don't involve jumping- some lunges, but since you're supposed to be going slow, not so much noise there. The only problem I see is if you don't put your weights down gently. ;)

So tonight...running across the street to get to the bus stop....I somehow tweaked my knee and it's in a bit of pain right now when I walk. I took some ibuprofin, and I'm going to ice it up a bit before bed. We'll see how it feels tomorrow.

What a way to start the next Shred month....
