Hi everyone,

I've been thinking that with the number of Scrap Girls that have nooks, maybe we should make a friend group so we could lend each other books? I was thinking that anyone interested could pm me their email, and I could put together a nice list of names, nook names and email addresses of those who wish to participate. Then I could email out the list to those on the list, so we could lend books to one another. It would be a fun way to get to know one another, and it would also save a few $$$ for everyone.

Anyone interested?

Edit:

I'll add names as they respond. Just pm me your email and after a time we'll put out a last call for participants before I send the list out to each of you.

Nook friends:

Amy
Aggie
Kim
Barbara
Elisha

Kindle Friends:

Ann
Shannon
Sara
Aggie
Sandi
April
Pat
Cheri

I've got a Kindle and might be interested in doing this with other members who have one. I'm so glad to see Kindle titles available at my public library!

One of the nice things about the nook is that you can lend to other nook users. I don't think we can lend to Kindle readers, but if lots of Kindle readers respond and are interested I can put together two lists.

Dianne is right...not all are shareable, but most are. And there is a small fee for the service, about $2 as I recall. You can loan the book for 2 weeks and then, POOF...it disappears from the borrower's Kindle and comes back to yours. Gotta love technology!!

And, I am trying to be very, very good this year in hopes that Santa will surprise me with an iPad. It's hard, but I'm trying!

Dianne - are you a kindle owner? I couldn't tell if you have one and want to share or have one on your wish list. :)

I think we will all be learning together. I haven't actually shared any books yet. On the nook, "I think" you just enter friends name and email, then "I think" you can then see lendable books in the others library.

I'm not sure how the kindle works. We'll all learn together!

I have just searched through the first 4 pages of my kindle library and none of my books shows lend ability. There's got to be an easier way to see which can and can't be loaned. I have over 300 books in my kindle library, surely some of them can be shared. if anyone knows of an easier way to search, other than going to each product page, let me know. Seems a little frustrating.

I have a kindle. I just went through some and a bunch are lendable. I also went through the lending information on Amazon and there shouldn't be a charge for it.

I have a Nook color, and will sign up. I don't have a lot of books to lend, but I have a few that would be nice to read if you haven't already.

On my Lendable list today (The publishers allow a SINGLE lend of a book, for three weeks):
Death Comes for the Archbishop, Willa Cather - I'd never read this before, and wow, it was wonderful.
Jane Eyre, Charlotte Bronte - purchased because there were too many mistakes in the "free" epub edition.
The Complete Father Brown, GK Chesterton
Divine, Karen Kingsbury - haven't read it yet. It was a free Friday Nook book
First, There is a River, Kathy Steffen - another free Friday Nook book

Sadly, "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society," "Breakthrough (10 Greatest Discoveries in Medicine)," and "the Miracle of St Anthony" (basketball story at an inner city school) are not lendable.

I'll join in on the Kindle list, though I'll warn I don't purchase many books for it. But the ones I have I'd be willing to lend!

Not all Nook books are lendable either. On the nook there is a tag on it right in your library that indicates if it is.

I've done a little homework for the nook. The Nook Friends is in the app section. I think it's there automatically because I never bought it separately. Then, it's pretty self explanatory.

How anxious are you all to share addresses? Do you want me to send them out as I get them or wait a little bit and send them all at once?

I have loaned one book, and there was a small charge for it. Maybe it doesn't apply to all books. This was one that everyone should read, especially if you were on the "Three Cups of Tea" and "Stones into Schools" bandwagon. Title: "Three Cups of Deceit", by John Krakauer. Very revealing and makes me sad about Greg Mortenson. Any one want to check it out?

I'm not seeing "lend capability" on mine either, Sandi - maybe I don't know how to search for it?

I haven't bought too many books for my Kindle library yet but do have a few - I know I have "The Help" on it but I'm sure everyone has read that by now.

Sent you a PM. I have the Nook and would be happy to lend my books. I checked my 'Lendable' list and here is what I can lend:

Legacy by Mary Stewart (Merlin's story)
Holiday Magic by Fern Michaels
Guardians of Ga'Hoole Collection
Common Sense by Thomas Paine

I have a lot more, but they are not lendable.

I've sent out the email list to the nook friends on the list who sent their email. I only have two Kindle friend email addresses sent pm'd to me so far. As soon as I get the majority of them, I'll send out an email to all so you can hook up.
