Candied Or Sugared Nuts? Tried and True recipe?

I am looking to do Christmas on a major budget this year. Today I bought some cute little stacking tins for sending holiday treats out to my siblings across the country. The top tin will be perfect for some candied or sugared nuts. I have never made them, but I know I love eating them!
Does anyone have a recipe for nuts that would pack and travel well and taste super yummy? Oh, and easy to make, also?

Kelly's Nuts
3/4 c sugar
2 T cinnamon (ground)
1 T coriander (ground) (oh this spice may be expensive...it's been so long I don't remember)
3/4 t. cloves (ground)
3 egg whites
zest of 1 orange
6 cups (2 lbs) raw whole almonds
Preheat oven to 275 degrees. Line 2 cookie sheets w/foil & spray w/non-stick spray. Combine sugar through spices. Beat egg whites til frothy. Stir sugar mixture, egg whites and almonds together. Spread half of mixture onto each cookie sheet. Bake center rack 40-50 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes. Remove. Cool 1 hour.
