Hi everyone,

I am looking to do Christmas on a major budget this year. Today I bought some cute little stacking tins for sending holiday treats out to my siblings across the country. The top tin will be perfect for some candied or sugared nuts. I have never made them, but I know I love eating them!

Does anyone have a recipe for nuts that would pack and travel well and taste super yummy? Oh, and easy to make, also?

Unfortunately I don't have any recipes to share, but I will be watching this thread because I love eating them too!

This is one of my favorite recipes to make around the holidays! http://allrecipes.co...ans/detail.aspx Very easy. I beat the egg white a little more than it calls for. I've also substituted walnuts with just as good of results (and sometimes they're cheaper). But I've gotten pecans at a decent price at Costco or Sam's in the past.

Promise! I will. What a great idea!

Oooo, that does look like a yummy recipe. I've never tried candied nuts but I think I'm going to have to try them this year.

This is just what I'm looking for! This fall at a flea market I scored about 20 empty "Giftins" - empty pop top cans designed to fill, seal and give as a gift. They are pre-designed, but I thought I'd use my Digital Scrapbooking supplies to personalize them. Homemade sugared nuts are just the right thing.

FOUND IT!! Wonders never cease! ;)

Kelly's Nuts

3/4 c sugar
2 T cinnamon (ground)
1 T coriander (ground) (oh this spice may be expensive...it's been so long I don't remember)
3/4 t. cloves (ground)
3 egg whites
zest of 1 orange
6 cups (2 lbs) raw whole almonds

Preheat oven to 275 degrees. Line 2 cookie sheets w/foil & spray w/non-stick spray. Combine sugar through spices. Beat egg whites til frothy. Stir sugar mixture, egg whites and almonds together. Spread half of mixture onto each cookie sheet. Bake center rack 40-50 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes. Remove. Cool 1 hour.

Gotta watch that! Nuts are so easy to burn. Sorry to hear this, Amy.

I think I"ll try the first recipe over at a lower temp than the recipe calls for, and I think I'll give Kelly's nuts a try also!
