So year to date I have lost 120lbs. 20 more then my original goal was when I started...and 20 less then what my "adjusted" goal was this summer...so it's a happy medium. I have 40 more to go before I "think" i'll be happy.
So no matter if today is your first check in with us, or you've been with us from the start I want to say you can do it also. Sure there will be hurdles along the way, and days you feel like giving up...we all do. The only thing I can say is, that's all been part of my journey also. And i've had to learn that when that happen you have to brush yourself off, pull up your big girl panties (I just love that saying...lol) and keep going. Don't let a hurdle define you...you take control of that hurdle.
Congratulations, Angie!! You are such an inspiration!

When you become a Taiko Expert, can we say "we knew you when....?"

Just did some floor exercises - leg lifts, (and ouchie, they hurt the old hernia) and rode the bike for about 15 minutes. I worked out with the bands though for about 25 minutes for some upper body exercise.

I don't see myself becoming a Taiko Expert. It's just a new hobby I enjoy. So no, I haven't thought of buying my own taiko drum. They are expensive to purchase and maintain! Plus I don't think the other tenants of my apartment building would appreciate it. Currently I practice on couch cushions or the side of my bed, so it's quiet.
If they offer beginner's classes, I say go for it. It's tons of fun, and yes it does work the arm muscles! Most of the movement is in the arms & hips. Your legs pretty much stay stationary in a lunge position, so your ankle should be fine. (My instructor taught us the first couple weeks with a broken toe.)

Tiza, I am glad you found some excercise to do. I am very uncoordinated as well which is why I won't take an excercise class, but in the privacy of my own home, watch out, I'll "bust a move" like you wouldn't believe!!
Chart is updated as of 9:30 Tuesday morning. Great start everyone!!

Tuesday done. When I got up this morning I was very still and tight all over. So I spent a good half hour with yoga. Feel a lot better now.
Even though I've only completed 2 weeks of CE and that spread over a longer time than Chalene's schedule, having to modify just about everything, it have made a big difference. A few months ago I couldn't even get up off the floor without holding on to something to pull myself up. Now after all those lunges and squats I was not only able to get up and down on my own, but also I was able to squat and lift boxes of books weighing about 60 pounds. And able to lift to help move furniture too. I have dropped one size although the scales aren't changing much. My waist is down an inch and my BMI is down 2%. Having accountability and fun with being with this group has certainly helped keep me on track. When I marvel at Cheri's boy muscles and Angie's incredible loss, and with Sara, Belle, Lei and all the others sticking with it day after day, and when there's fatigue and discouragement, like what Tiza has been going through, I know I'm in the right place. Thanks for keeping this going everyone, its priceless.

Uh-Oh, if I have to stay in a lunge position, then my ankle probably won't survive it - it has nuts and bolts and screws and all kinds of hardware in it but also has a muscle graft that prevents me from squatting or really lunging for more than a few minutes - I would kind of have to lunge with my right leg and cheat with my left so........I might go over and just give it a try. I am joining Rich's gym this month anyway so maybe that's all the new I need right now to add to my exercise - course I can't do anything new til I get this hernia taken care of and I'm absolutely terrified of having this hernia surgery - I have worried myself to death.......

You couldn't be more right, Melanie - my hernia is noticing that I did the wrong thing this morning with the leg lifts - I am soooooo scared of the surgery and think I thought if I did them it would go away! hahahaaha! I wish I could wave my magic wand and say "be gone, hernia, be gone!"

See if that group has a performance coming up that you can watch. Then you'll get an idea of their leg positions when they aren't crammed on a parade float
And since I'm so short, I don't have to lunge as far as the others in my class!
Honestly, if you like music and want to try something new, take a class. That's more the reason I am taking the classes. The physical exercise is just a small bonus.
Joining Rich's gym will be good for you! And worrying about the hernia probably isn't going to help it. Take care of yourself!

I had my 6 month med review with my primary care physician today. He's reducing one my blood pressure meds because that's doing really well. He praised me for my modest weight loss.

Good for you Pat! That's great that you can keep up with Mike now; sometime soon you'll be heading up the hill with him like it's no big deal!

Way to go Pat! I love it when we can really start to see the health benefits of our efforts. That means more than what the scales say any old day!
