Burn Intervals, Burn Intervals, I hate you, you stink!! :grr:

Anyway, they are done for the night. After the first 10 minutes of the DVD, I started calling her Jillian. :dancingghost: That's how much I hate this segment.

But... little happy dance.... I stopped at JC Penney tonight and was able to wear a size 6 jeans!!!
Attachment 2012-01-31 16.31.00-1.jpg
I think the last time I wore a size 6 was in kid's sizes. I've been noticing my current jeans feeling a little loose in the waist/butt/hips, so I wanted to see if I was getting closer to the next size down. I got them pulled up AND zipped!! So of course I bought them. They are still a tad too tight to wear in public (and I'm sucking in my muffin top), but they are motivating me to keep going.

WTG, Tiza!

I did stairs tonight - 80 flights = 1120 stairs, up and down, up and down (as my 3 year old started chanting in his crabby voice around the 50th flight) lol
btw, this is great cardio for a gal who is too cheap to buy a treadmill! :giggle_bear:

Tuesday - 40 minute walk outside.

Tiza, I'm a loooonnnnnggg way from a size 6 but I recently bought a new pair of jeans one size smaller than I had been wearing and found a couple pairs of jeans/pants in my stash that I can wear that are two sizes smaller.

And, the scale finally showed me a new number today. I think it's the first time since before Christmas that I've made ANY progress.

Awesome Pat! Despite that stubborn scale, your heart is much stronger now (remember that hill you couldn't do before) and your diabetes is under better control - you are doing great! I'll keep thinking good non-stubborn scale thoughts for you:)

Way to go Tiza and Pat! Nothing like tangible results. :2468who-do-we-appreciate:

I'm done for Tuesday. More time on the elliptical.

Thomas is going to be sore tomorrow. He ran 3 miles and did weights. I think maybe he's getting excited about being on the track team. I love it when my kids believe me. He told me he wasn't athletic the other day. "Um, dude, both your parents were runners.... and pretty good..... it's genetic. You'll be a good runner."

There are a couple of brands of stevia sweetened soft drinks on the market that also do not contain phosphorus, which is really hard on the teeth enamel. They use "real" ingredients for flavorings, too.

gayle do you know which brands?? I would love to know. my only weekness in life is cola!! I rarely drink booze never did drugs. my addiction is cola. I have done very well and I only drink it socially but it would be nice to have an alternative.

Zevia is one; I think the other I found is Blue Mountain. They're in the natural foods section, or places like Whole Foods. The colas are really flavored with cola nut and the ginger ale with real ginger. Safeway has a Refresh Natural that is half sugar, half stevia.

Snopes article on aspartame
I'll likely keep happily drinking my 1-3 Coke Zeros a day unless and until someone comes out with hard scientific data that it is harming me/going to harm me:)
The data I do believe regarding aspartame/other sweeteners is they can make you crave other sweets which leads to increased caloric intake and thus increased weight. For me, this has never been an issue - my weight is constant.

You do want to avoid aspartame if you have fibromyalgia - it acts as an excitotoxin in fibromites' already overstressed brains.

I'd like to use my Sunday's workout for today. Way too much time walking and waiting in doctors' offices. Hey, that's what I did it for, right?

Tiza, congratulations on the skinny jeans! Way to go!

Pat, congratulations on both the smaller pants and the weight loss.

January is a tough month to get into action, so thanks and cheers to everyone who helped keep us motivated!

Yay for new SMALLER jeans!! Great motivation to keep active!!

I really like burn intervals! I can't say I thought that in the beginning...but after a week or two...I could really tell I felt so good when I was done! Maybe I was just thankful to still be alive and breathing. ??? LOL

See, it's all worth it! Just remember those jeans!!

Jessica, Burn Intervals is one of the workouts in ChaLEAN Extreme, a DVD series from Beachbody.com Several of us have done the program and most of us really really like it. Many of us do NOT like the Burn Intervals though - it's intense! :)

Gotcha! I don't have any of those DVD's but a 30 minute workout with Jillian Michaels sure does leave every muscle in my body burning, so that will have to do me for right now!!!!!

Is it too late to join for Feb?

This year I plan to lose at least 50 lbs. I think that is a realistic goal since it works out to just under a pound a week - although I am already behind schedule. Figures! I haven't been consistent since the holidays so I am hoping I can still make up the deficit. I actually have 70 or so to lose so I can be where I want to be, but 50 this year is a good start & will leave me the last 20 to zero in on in 2013.

Tiza - saw your recent triumph in the fitting room, a 6! Awesome! A 6 or an 8 is my ultimate goal. Having a goal date helps me, so per my own schedule I am setting a goal of losing 5 this month - a lofty goal considering how slowly I tend to lose anyway.

My workouts will be Joyce Vedral's Weight Training Made Easy + walking & Zumba (for the Kinect). After 2 weeks I will be changing weight workouts but the cardio will likely stay the same... unless I can find a deal I can afford on turbo fire or insanity soon.

Jenna, there is another thread to sign up for Feb, we will start the 6th.

Just finished 20 min Beginner Class 1 Zumba (kinect). That workout never stops!

Also hopped on the scale to check the damage for Jan... I was shocked. I actually lost 2 lbs in spite of only getting a few workouts in (I didn't workout at all the week my mom was here - too much sewing to do!). I did the happy dance. So much to my surprise I have 48 lbs to go this year!

I have a question for all of you - my scale weighs in increments instead of whole pounds. For those of you with the same kind of scale - do you round up or down? I tend to round up to the nearest pound because in my mind over is over.
