Got my workout in for today.

I had to laugh about your beagle, Cheri. Back when I was working on pushups for the Army physical fitness test, DJ apparently thought I was playing, and she would try to dive under me when I was in the up position. It always made me laugh, but didn't help me get ready for the PT test!

Friday - ah, Friday! No bike ride - today my exercise is going to just have to be the "miles" I'll have to cover navigating the halls of the hospital with Christopher - he has a doc appt today and honestly, the building is huge and I feel as if I've walked ten miles by the time we do everything we have to do between walking the stairs (he doesn't like elevators) 4 flights to the docs office and then through the entire building to get back to the pharmacy. Sounds lame, but it is truly alot of walking. LOL

I do hope to do some walking outside today too, but time will tell. And tomorrow we leave for Charlotte - YAY!

Noelle likes to keep me company during pushups. She will stand right under my chest/chin, which makes it difficult to do anything except hold plank position. But I figure that counts as exercise still too.

Noelle is going to have "boy muscles" too doing the shred with you, Tiza!

Friday done! CE Burn circuit 3. Still nursing a sore elbow so no weights or pushups yet, but everything else is still a lot of hard work, definitely no glow, or dew or glisten, just plain old stinky gym workout sweat....ew. but a nice shower afterward feels soooooo good. it may take me all of 2012 to master CE but I am doing it! I guess in a way that extra 70 pounds I've got is my own built in weights, especially with the lunges and squats....I'm feeling it for sure.

Tiaz, I think just holding the plank position gives you benefit. Right now with my elbow I can't even hold that and its not the straight elbow, its the wrist extension that strains the tendons at the elbow. I'm wondering if those push up bars would help, that way I would not be extending my wrist as much. I'll have to look into those....anyone used them before?

I use push up bars, Sandi. They are much easier on the wrists.

Friday's workout is complete....Chest and Back, and Ab Ripper X.

If you happen to have a large enough pair of free weights, you can use those as push up bars to "try before you buy" or if it's comfortable, use them instead of the push up bars. It is supposed to decrease wrist strain, so may help with the elbow issue as well since it stems from how you're holding your wrists in push up position.

Holding plank definitely works you, especially your core - tighten the buttocks and abdomen while you're holding! There's a move in P90X where you spend something around a minute alternating between holding plank and holding chaturanga (low military push up position with your elbows hugged in to your sides).

I'm joining Rich's gym in January so I can do a bit more than I'm doing now - gyms are really not my thing, but I'm at a point now where I think I need some more structured exercise............plus I really, really want to wiggle my way into my size 4 jeans before Spring! PLUS I'll have a workout buddy in Rich so we'll have fun and get exercise too - he's been going for over a year now and it's done wonders for him - tightest little tush I've ever seen so that's what I'm going for! Tush tightening! (among other things that need tightening)

I forgot to check in yesterday but I did 32 minutes on the treadmill. Friday done - 38 minutes on the treadmill. It's actually nice enough to go walk outside. I may do that too.

It's after midnight now, but I did get a workout in on Fri.

Tiza, it all depends on your bone structure. Some (many?) of us are not cut out to be a size 4 (unless you're in the ritzy brands where they are cut more generously). I've been underweight with an illness, and trust me, you don't want to get there. I have reasonably small bones, and if my size 6s ever get loose, I'm too thin.

That is so very true, Gayle - I've always been small (with the exception of pregnancy, and just plain weight gain from living in some places where the food was just too good not to try (lots of tries - lots of pounds) - I've been a 12, 10, 8, 6, 4 and yes, even a two. When I was a size two, my dh reminded me frequently that I looked emaciated and way too thin (I was thinking I looked pretty good, but I was wrong) Two is way too thin for me even though I am small boned. I really do look my best at a 4 or 6 and that's where I like to maintain my weight. Even being in a size 6, I still have those "certain area" problems with the hips and thighs just not wanting to be a part of my much loved size 6 and that's what I'm working so hard to get those area pounds to get away. Those areas are the hardest and very non-cooperative and it frustrates me that they don't melt away like the other poinds I've lost so easily.

I don't buy ritzy brands (wish I could) but I can usually go to the racks ad pick up a size 6 and without even trying it on, knoe hat it's going to fit me. THAT I love - but it doesn't always work - depending on the brand of clothing, somethings only an 8 will do and I just have to tell myself it's okay. Since I still do try very hard not to "measure" myself by the scales but by the size of my clothes, I get pretty down when my jean are a little snug here or there and it's all because I'm looking at that number size. It isn't the best way to guage one's size, but it's just what I've always done.

Just look good in whatever size you are and don't think for one minute that because you aren't a 4 or a 6 or an eight that you haven't reached your goal - as Gayle said, we just weren't all meant to be those sizes - I recently gave away all of my size 12 jeans to a friend here remembering how chunky and fat I looked in them - on her, they looked beautiful - she's big boned, taller than am I, and not an ounce of fat on her but she does require a size 12 and she is beautiful.

Size, weight - those things matter to us so much but really, what matters is whatever weight we are, that it is the healthy weight for us.

My crystal ball tells me that you are going to be quite surprised when those pounds start falling off and you're going to try on a pair of jeans one day and just be in awe of how many times you have to send the sales girl back to bring you a smaller size cause the size you thought you were is just waaaaay too big! That will be your "hoo-hah" moment! (Bet you'll have to leave the store wearing the new jeans too)

I do mostly wear a 4 or 6 but I have a couple skirts that are 10s because they are those pencil shaped skirts and they are straight as a stick and my size six just won't go over and fit the oh, not so pencil like hips I have!

TJ fat Blaster for my Christmas Eve gift to myself. First time I'd done that workout and it was kind of fun. Just glad there's no video. I just don't quite look like those people on the video. I would look more like what you'd see on a Richard Simmons video (except I like Chalene a lot more).

PLUS I'll have a workout buddy in Rich so we'll have fun and get exercise too - he's been going for over a year now and it's done wonders for him - tightest little tush I've ever seen so that's what I'm going for! Tush tightening! (among other things that need tightening)

I loved when Shane and I were going to the gym together earlier this year. It was almost like a date as we got to go without the kids! He is a great workout buddy, but he only likes going to the gym, if I try and get him to go for walk outside he complains the whole time.

Oh you all will so understand/enjoy this. So on Christmas Eve Justin decided he needed to go get myself and Gary a present. So he called my dad and had him take him to WalMart (this itself had to be a scene...as WalMart on Christmas Eve is the LAST place my dad would want to be...lol) So when they got back Justin was so excited!!! Finally late last night he couldn't stand it any more and wanted us to open our gifts. I couldn't believe how well he did (he's getting so old) he got me a new holder for my Nano that goes onto my art, been wanting one for awhile, a new pair of headphones since mine kept falling out of my ear, and he must of heard me talking about wanting to get ankle weights for walking...cause he got those also.

Of course I was cussing him today when I walked with the ankle weights (I only used 4lbs per leg..but man that made a difference) I told him if I could raise my leg to kick his butt I would of, he just laughed.

He did such a good job!!
