I like 8.5 x 11 and 8 x 8, even though I make mostly 12 x 12 for advertising purposes. (Those get sized down before printing.)

I've always scrapped 12x12 and printed 8x8. I really like getting a bound book at shutterfly. My first two were 8x8 and DH complained that they were too small. I did DD's wedding album 12x12 and we like the largeness, but the square is awkward. I just did my 2011 annual book in landscape 8.5x11 and kind of like it. Waiting for the family to cast a vote between that and 12x12.

Like many others have said, I usually do 12x12 and print 8x8. Although this year I am seriously considering doing my Project 52 album as 8.5x11 (if I ever get started!).

i see i'm one of the few using 8x10, but the only reason i do is because the photobook company i like to print with has that size!

I'm on a budget that causes me to make scrapbooks from out-of-print wallpaper books, about 24" x 24". Some are bigger. A tad overwhelming but they are always free and are already handsome or beautiful when I start. I would call my books very handsome but they take time if I put much effort into any one page. But just because they are big doesn't mean they aren't economical. They are heavy as heck before I even start, so they aren't for people that like to schlep them around. At least they have strong leather straps to carry them with and I'm not going to lose an album at the bottom of a box.
All that said, I'd prefer these books came at 10" x 10".
