Hi Kelly. Start at page one of this thread and you will see the initial instructions in bold purple. Then you'll need to scroll through each page to find the rest of the tasks in bold purple. They are all numbered but you will find all of us participating reporting and posting after each task. Good luck! :)

Where is this task list at? I can't find it anywhere. I receive the weekly newsletter roundup.

Did you find it? It is posted daily in this thread, so there isn't a "master list" posted. Thanks for the clarification Marilyn.

January 17th – Task 14 LAYOUT

Add one thing (besides photos) to your scraplifted LO from Task #13 that makes your layout uniquely yours.

Requirement: Upload your layout to the Jumpstart January 2012 Gallery and share the links to both your layout and your scrap-lift inspiration layout in this thread. Include the links in your month-end document.

OOOhhhhh.. You are a tricky one, Conda! That's the one thing I was struggling with on my LO - embellishments! It doesn't lend itself to anything but pics and my scraplifted one had none either..

Ok.. Gotta go put my thinking cap on. And will update later. :)

OH! Came back right away = can I add a quote if the scraplifted LO doesn't have one?

TASK 14 done

I started out only planning to use the basic placement & paper shapes but because of my son's school colors & the papers I had that looked good with the rest of it I ended up with a very similar color scheme too. Funny! Anyway - I am hoping that my choice in embellishments & my blended photo will count as being "uniquely mine" because I can't figure out anything else I'd like to add that wouldn't detract from it at this point. :)

Task #14 done

I chose a stunning layout by 'awiles' to scraplift called my baby girl 2 and created this page, look, based on it... I loved the large b&w image and the quote, something I like to do too... so...I used her tones and design but made the following changes: turned the photo on the left inward so it is looking at the quote, added cursive, added a photo filter to soften the colour, added glitter and a different positioning for the quote... the thing that makes it uniquely mine though is my favourite embellishment (ok it IS a tie with glitter!) a wonderfully twirled RIBBON :-) tfl!

I think a quote would be fine Marilyn. I think that could be considered one thing (besides your photos) that would make the layout uniquely yours as instructed. :)

Task #14

I looked & looked at my LO trying to decide how to make it my own. At first I just added "Hiroshima Japan 2006" along the swirl. Then I added the ribbon behind the photo to tie in the pink color a little more. Finally I decided that I'd add a layer with a filled, beveled border on top of the BG paper.

Task 14 Done:

I picked Jane in N.Z.'s Thurs Jiffy Challenge. I really loved the colors and the whimsical feel. The black and white embellishments add a nice twist to the whole piece. The result from scraplifted LO is this: Summer. Instead of using a traditional scatter, I made my alpha the scatter. Instead of using the high contrast of black and white on the bottom of the page, I deconstructed that contrast and linear movement using the stylized photo to mimic that contrasty feel at the top of the page, then brought the contrast down subtly (or with subtle intent) down through the layering of the elements, finally onto the paper.

I pained myself over what to add to make this uniquely mine, but like Jenna, I have to say if I added something it would detract from the LO. Since the general principle I was working with was that scraplifting is taking an idea and expressing it on your own unique way, I think my LO screams uniquely "me" (I color outside the lines-- LOL).

Task #13 done but not entirely happy.

Task #14...just what the scrap doctor ordered! If you look at Joann's LO, her word cloud describing her son is IN his silhouette. That just wasn't working for me. I took the word cloud, added a scripture brush from Thao, and now I am quite happy with the result. This ends up being a very loose scraplift, but I did start here for inspiration!

Task #14 done!

Scraplift layout: Rubber Ducky by member bjc.

My layout: Task 14

I tried to keep her wonderful compostion. Her embellishments were perfect for her photo, but I needed different embellishment for this Thanksgiving photo. After that, my layout took on a life of its own. So... I changed colors and mood as well as embellishments. I also used a WA title but no journaling.

Task #14 done!

Once I read the 'rules' for scrap lifting I was afraid I'd infringe on the design, so I didn't try to imitate the LO at all. I did however use the same kit as in the original. We have a lot of un-scrapped photos from our visit to Napa Valley in 2008 and I love the way this one turned out! I like to use script fonts for titles and captions, so this is my 'personal' touch. :)

TASK #14 - Schluchsee

I chose Jode2771 Task # 4 Reworked to scrap lift. I loved the panorama effect of the layout, the soft colours, and the golden filter on the photographs. The vertical swathe of pale blue gave it the appearance of a reflection or mirage. I could only take that so far with the photo I chose.

The unique element of my layout is the painting effect I’ve applied. I’ve used a heavily textured background and duplicated this and placed it between the layers as an overlay to keep a strong canvas effect throughout.
