Welcome to ScrapGirls! We're so happy to have you here. First, you'll want to download this free ebook if you haven't already-- 15 Things You Need To Know To Become A Great Digital Scrapbooker (free Starter Ebook) There is some great advice for how to get started in there.

I'd suggest Photoshop Elements. It is a lot less expensive than Photoshop and does most everything you'll need to create fabulous pages. You can download a free 30 day trial to try it out. The learning curve on Adobe products can be steep, so I'd pick up these tutorials as well. Scrapbook Software Secrets Revealed: Digital Scrapbooking Photoshop Elements - Downloadable Version They walk you through how to create a layout one step at a time. The lessons build on each other, so if you practice each step after it is introduced, you should catch on pretty quickly.

Don't hesitate to ask more questions here in the forums too. :)

Welcome to Scrap Girls! You are going to love digital scrapbooking. I use Photoshop but as April suggested Photoshop Elements offers everything you need, is less expensive and I've heard is easier to learn. Hope to see your layouts in the gallery soon:)

Welcome to Scrap Girls! I use Photoshop Elements too. Love it. April is right in saying that PSE will do just about everything you need to create outstanding layouts and it is considerably less expensive than full Photoshop. I highly recommend it.

Welcome to ScrapGirls! I am to echo what everyone else said - PhotoShop Elements is great for digital scrapbooking! The price difference between PhotoShop and Elements is HUGE and Elements will probably do everything you want.

You can take your savings from not buying PhotoShop and use it to buy digital kits!

Welcome to ScrapGirls! You'll love it here. Ditto on all the advice. There is one other option you could do as well, that I like to use when I"m not near my computer, with my programs on it. That is an online program that is free, and works similar to photoshop. www.pixlr.com It's an online photo editor, but you can open up files on your computer, save the finished ones to your computer and it might work to play around till you decide which program you'd like to purchase. If I'm scrapping, I just open the size of paper from my computer that I want to use so it's automatically the right size of the finished layout I want, rather than trying to work with their presets. Just a thought. Can't wait for you to get started.

Welcome to Scrap Girls! We're so glad you found us!

Photoshop Elements is a great program. I've been using it since PSE2. However, it is not especially user friendly. I was extremely frustrated until I got the video tutorials. There are other programs out there that are easy to use, but most people quickly become disenchanted with their limits. They are proprietary software, and most of them don't use common file formats, so you can't use other products (in some cases) or modify your creations later with another program.

For the price, PSE is a great value. With things like layer styles and type paths you can purchase in the Scrap Girls boutique, you can do pretty much anything you'd want to do, unless you are a graphic designer.

Welcome. I'm glad you found us. I'm a PSE girl too. I have PSE 10 sitting in a box. I'm waiting to install it until I upgrade my OS (later this week). I'm so excited about some of the new features. I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions myself. Let us know how we can help you out.

I use Photoshop Elements 7 and bought the tutorials on this website last January. They were SUPER helpful as were/continue to be these forums and helpful ladies! You'll find the learning curve steep and frustrating at times (be sure to use these forums to ASK ASK ASK) but stick with it...it's worth it! I'm at the point now a year later where I feel pretty comfortable with the basics and can branch out a little now. Welcome!
