I have noticed a few messages regarding cleaning out cookies. So, I though I would share some information I read in our local newspaper regarding this topic and how to get the best results. I knew about the general way to clean out cookies, but this article had a little more information I thought I would share with all my Scrap Girl friends.

First, you can visit the Network Advertising Initiative, a cooperative of online ad companies. When you click on the "Consumer Opt Out" button, the NAI website will show you which of its member companies have tracking cookies on your browser.

Second, in Internet Exporer 9, open the "Tools" menu at the top of the window and select "Delete Browsing History." Make sure the "Cookies" check-box is selecgted, and press "Delete.

You can go a step futher and prevent your browser from taking cookies from obscure advertising sites in the future (this part is new to me.)

Go to Internet Explorer 9, click again on the "Tools" menu and select "Internet Options." Click on the "Privacy" tab at the top of the dialogue box, then press the "Advanced" button (between "Import" and "Default"). Check the "Override automatic cookie handling" box, then check "Block" under "Third Party cookies." Leaving first-part cookies enabled will allow for easier use of web email and commerce sites.

This information is from the articule "Protect yourself by cleaning up cookies" by David Sarno, McClatchy Newspaper - Los Angeles.

Hope this info will be helpful!

Just know that when you clean out your cookies you also clean out your boutique cart. Hopefully the wish list upgrade will come along soon, but I know a lot of people use the cart for their wish list. :)

HA! When I read your topic, I thought, "That's easy...just start eating them!" That works great for the edible version but not so well for computers. Hope you get it figured out!

I put a paper pack into my basket, logged out and went back in to Tools, and deleted all cookies. When I checked back in, my paper pack is still in my basket. Perhaps this only works with Windows 9. Although, it is my understanding you can do the same thing in other programs, but the process will be different.

LOL! Ditto for me! I thought you'd found a great way to get rid of the lingering Christmas cookies without doing it the "obvious" way! :disappearing-smilie:
