I found a Canon Pixma ip4500 on Craigslist for $15. I've seen them online for $300-$400 so I took a chance and got this one. I'm hoping it will arrive in the next week or so. Are there any other scrappers out there that use this printer?

Sorry, don't use that kind of printer. Sounds like a bargain though.

I have a Canon Pixma but not that model, but gosh, at that price, I don't see how you can go wrong! What a bargain! Let us know how it works for you!

Ro, is yours pretty easy on ink? The guy I'm buying it from filled his own tanks. I'm guessing since I'll be using it to print layouts that the colors would be best to use the Canon-approved. Wow they are not cheap! Really hope this works out...really want to print my own but can't buy a brand new printer.

I only use Canon Pixma ink - the real deal. I get it from Amazon. My printer is so easy on ink that the cost of printing a layout - paper included - is about 60 cents a page, depending on the saturation of the color. When I got the printer, I stocked up on ink based on my experience with other printers I have had. I have been surprised at how long that ink has lasted. The best thing is how beautiful my prints are.

Hope your printer worksmout as well as mine has!

I have a Canon IP1600, and I usually stock up on packs of Canon brand ink from Amazon. I tried getting ink from one of those refill places, and had horrible luck, so I went back to getting the real stuff.

Mine is a Pixma MP620. Love it. I usually get my ink from Staples because of the rewards program I get. I've tried other inks and have learned that the branded ink to match the printer works best!

I have a Canon Pixma MG8120. I love it! Prints great. I get Canon inks usually from Best Buy. I haven't had any thoughts about it using ink fast. (Or no faster than any other printer I've ever had.) I was an HP printer gal for many years. Got fed up with them though, so bought this Canon. I hope you have great results!

I LOVE my printer! The scrapbook page layouts look BEAUTIFUL! What photo paper do you buy, and where from? I picked up some Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy II and really like how they look, but wondered if the regular glossy yielded the same results for less $$. Do you buy online? from local retailer?

Yay! I think the paper I have at the moment is by Kodak. I just buy from wherever I'm at, be it WalMart, Best Buy or Office Max (or Office Depot...whichever it is that's near me.)

I usually watch for sales and buy whatever. My Canon printer seems to get great results no matter which brand I use. My favorite is semi-gloss.

Ditto that! I buy the Canon brand as well - sometimes the refill cartirdges would leak on me once in awhile!

Semi-gloss cartridges, Ro or are you talking about the paper? I like the matte finish paper and love to use the textured paper for my cards - it gives them such a nice look and adds depth to them but for my scrapbook pages I also use the semi-gloss and matte finish.

I agree with Ro. I have a Canon printer and the prints are great, even better depending on the paper you use. I always use genuine cartridges as in the early days I tried refill and compatible and it clogged my print head. It is amazing how many prints you can do on a cartridge, of course some colours I use a lot more than others. I am blessed to have a newsagent a few streets away with the best pricing ever.

Happy printing!
