I just wanted to share my plans for this evening, as I'm kind of excited about it. DH and I don't really get too much into it, but my DD would be disappointed if we didn't celebrate it in some way.
Here are my plans. We will be watching the movie "Somewhere In Time" tonight. DD has never seen it, and I've been giving her clues:
1. I gave her a 1979 penny
2. I texted her the date 1912
3. I sent a sound file to her phone "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini"
4. I sent her a vintage postcard from the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, Michigan (I must have done some good Photoshop work - she still thinks it's real, lol)
And today I packed a little package with a pocket watch (Walmart, $10) in it, and sent it with her to school.
I think she's guessed it, cause her dad told me she googled 1979, 1912, and Grand Hotel together, and she got a movie in the results. but that's ok.
I'm planning an easy but elegant dinner - using the Omaha Steak package we got from my mom for Christmas. It's just been fun seeing her anticipation.
What are you doing? I can always use ideas for next year.

Sounds like fun and you were so creative with it. I love seeing other people's creativity in action - as I have none in my genes, I'm afraid.

How fun! You are so creative!!
Tonight, we aren't doing much. I got the girls some chocolates, made them an exploding box and put a small pair of earrings in it. I'm going to make cupcakes, too. As for dinner, I don't know. I asked what they wanted and got no answers....We'll see dh this weekend, so I'll have to wait to see my Valentine!

Awww so sweet Elisha! I don't have big plans for the evening since we celebrated over the weekend. I made little candy/gift buckets for the girls for the day and we'll have a special Valentine's day themed dinner (just regular dinner but everything will have Valentine's day names) and that's about it for us.

Love that Elisha, how creative! One year my DH did a VDay geocaching scavenger hunt for me. It was awesome!
With 3 boys it's a little harder...but I found gummy ALLIGATORS. LOL! My 3 year old calls them addidators and he'll be thrilled when I give it to him after his nap. Not sure he'll want to eat it...
We are going to finish making cookies and the kids have their candy from school. That's about it for them. DH and I exchange cards and usually chocolate. My weakness is caramels, and he knows it;)

wow, Elisha, that sounds wonderful, very creative indeed.
well, seeing as Valentines Day is over down here it was a lovely one... dh and I have a tradition of giving two cards for every occasion, one funny, one sentimental so those are always done first thing in the morning.
Dh took ds to school as I had taken dd earlier in the morning and then he came home with a bunch of tulips... those were the very first flowers he every bought for me
and then last night we went to see 'The Descendants' with gorgeous George Clooney. Loved it.
we came out of the movie to a message from dd that there was a funny smell in the house, she had checked the stove etc but was a bit concerned, suffice it to say we got home as quickly as possible but thankfully it was nothing, so all in all, a lovely VDay was had by all.
hope you all have a wonderful one tonight
