March 7 --- Quick update I'm on Day 7 of no sweets and so far so good --- I also have 51 goals out of 101 for my Day Zero Project, I need to take the time to write down the other 50.

Here is an example of some of the other goals I have for myself - some easy and some a little harder AND even though they are numbered I can complete them in any order that I want:

Goal #32 - Learn how to write my name in Japanese

Goal #47 - Volunteer at Habitat for Humanity

Goal #15 - Go on a picnic

Goal #33 - Write down one good thing that happens every day for a month (I really like this one and will probably extend it past the 31 day goal)

Goal #19 - Play at least 50 rounds of golf this summer

Day Zero Project can be found at dayzeroproject(dot)com AND it's kind of like creating a bucket list but NOT LOL --- you create a list of 101 things that you want to achieve in the next 1001 days. They don't have to be BIG things either, I mean one of the items on the list can be to make the list AND bam once you've written down that 101st goal you can already cross one item off your list. It's not one of those before I die I want to........... although of course if you want to put those things on your list you can - the list is all about what you want to achieve in the next couple of years. I created a layout (Day Zero Project) to try to get me motivated enough to finish my list AND I'm going to try to get my list completed by Saturday.

So, now on to the real reason I'm creating this thread --- one of the goals on my list is to go without eating sweets for a month --- YIKES, did I just say that? For those of you that know me, my middle name is sugar LOL well not really but seriously I eat a tremendous amount of sweets. Now I could have chosen February (the shortest month of the year) to do this but then I would have felt like I was cheating. So I decided to tackle this humongous goal in March --- so starting March 1st I am NOT going to: touch one piece of chocolate, take one bite of a cookie, or candy, or cake.......................

I think I might need a little :2468who-do-we-appreciate: support :2468who-do-we-appreciate: here AND if you would like to join me --- woohoo the more the merrier AND misery loves company are two phrases that seem to come to my mind at this point!

Also, let me know if you are going to take the plunge and create your 101 things to do in 1001 days! I'd love to hear some of the goals you are writing down on your list.

I would have to to it in April. We are going on holiday and to a wedding in March :disappearing-smilie: . It should be easy for me. I don't really eat sweets or cake. But good luck to you. I will be watching this tread.

I gave up cokes for Lent, and that started yesterday, so in a sense I'm joining you. My daughter gave up sweets for Lent, and I think that is a brave move on her part. I'm not sure if I could do that one. I'll definitely be thinking about you during March.

Sherry, I remember signing up for that and then never went back to finish my list. Eek!

I just logged in and had only around 20things on my list. So, I'll be adding to it. I was able to mark some things "done", but now I only have 462 days left! :hit-head-with-hammer:

My screen name thee s the same as here, if anyone wants to follow me.

I remember that layout! I hadn't heard of the project, but it sounds like a neat idea. I've found with sweets, the longer you go without them, the less likely you'll even think about them. For me, after two weeks without sugar, I don't even want the stuff. (And I can be a sugar junkie!) Of course, I know to avoid the candy, pastry, and ice cream aisles at the store. ;)

If I think I want something sweet, I'll have something salty or sour instead. Maybe that will help you break the habit, too. :newangel:

This is a cool idea! Think of all the weight you'll lose by eliminating sugar from your diet (or at least reducing)! I should follow your lead - I am currently addicted to Berries & Cream Oreos and they are starting to take their toll!

Now THAT is an ambitious goal - not sure I could pull that one off with the no sweets (from one Sherry/Cheri Sugar to another;) :giggle_bear:
I wish you a hearty dose of motivation to get you through the month! Off to check out the site now...

I have not heard of this before Sherry, but I think you're very brave to take it on and I'll be rooting for you from the sidelines! I think you're very ambitious to start this and I wish you all the luck in the world. Hope you'll keep us posted on how you're doing. I did like your idea of the list of 101 things though - that I can probably work on in the next month or so! WTG!

wahooo Sherry, you can do it, so proud of you for giving this your best go.

I gave up sugar in my tea a while ago, now if there is even a grain in the cup, I can taste it so you are doing yourself a very good thing.

keep us updated on your progress so we can support you

I would bet that you won't have any problem with your #19 goal! I think I remember that golf was your game!

Well before my Father passed that was true Sara but two years ago I didn't play at all and last year I think I played a total of 1 round, so it will be a harder goal that what one would think.

Hmmm, I never heard of the Day Zero Project, but is sounds like a lot of fun and I'll definitely check into it, especially since I am a big list person- I love to make to do lists and be able to cross things off the list. Thanks for posting the info Sherry and congrats on meeting your no sweets goal! That's awesome! Great layout too - LYSL in the gallery. ;)

Thank you for the love on my layout AND the congrats --- at this point I think that was the hardest thing on my list BUT we'll see, I do have some other month long goals on my list too! The thing I like about this project is you can set your goals as big or small as you want them AND you can work on them while you are still creating your list. I think the thing I have found the hardest so far is thinking up 101 different things - which by the way I still haven't done. I'm trying to work in some easy goals along with some goals that are really going to test me - like the no sweets for a month one.

Right now I am working on a goal that I love - it's writing down 101 favorite quotes!
