I found a book in the new books section at the library recently - The Last Storyteller, by Frank Delaney. The opening paragraph on the book jacket flap spoke to the scrapper in me, although the book is not about scrapbooking.
“Every legend and all mythologies exist to teach us how to run our days. In kind fashion. A loving way. But there’s no story, no matter how ancient, as important as one’s own. So if we’re to live good lives, we have to tell ourselves our own story. In a good way.”
The book itself is intriguing, and a bit difficult to figure out at first, but worth reading. It would probably be better to start with the earlier stories (which I haven't read):
The Matchmaker of Kenmare
Ventia Kelly’s Traveling Show
Anyway, I wanted to share the quote, and this seemed the most logical place to put it.

great thought. thanks for sharing! I read a blog recently that was pretty emphatic that by "editing" our life in our stories, we aren't being true to ourselves or the meaning of our experiences. It really made me stop and think.

I definitely see that speaking to the scrapper in me. It speaks more to the poet in me too!! Thanks for sharing!

I've copied the book and author, and will check them out. The author sounds familiar, so I may have read something by him. Thanks!
