I have been working with the "Creating Slots in an Object and Threading it with a Paper Strip or Ribbon" tutorial written by Cheryl Barber and have followed the directions on my PC using PSE10. I create my slot with a rectangle tool, simplify the layer, duplicate the layer, move 2nd image a smidge, select both layers (Shift click), merge the 2 layers and rename. I select the Magic Wand tool, click on the slots (Have done this already with groups of 2, 4 and 6 slots)the Wand selects all of the slots with marching ants around all of the slots, I click my desired layer in the layers pallet then select menu option Edit but delete is not enabled. I have then just pressed the delete key and get the PSE 10 Message "Could not complete your request because the object is not directly editable". I must be missing something simple but I just can't seem to get past this step. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks

In case anyone else does look at this I thought I would update this post with what I think the problem is. I had been trying to create slots in a background paper that I cropped as a background. I have simplified the paper layer but it does not act the same way as an ebellishment like a folder acts when doing the same actions. I can get the slots to work on an object like a folder but cannot get it to work on a background paper - even though the paper is a 3rd layer and cropped to be smaller.

Ok, just got it done using the cropped paper. I guess the answer is "if at first, second, third, fourth....you don't succeed, try, try again.
